The Consumer Products division extends the Blizzard Entertainment properties to premier merchandise ranging from apparel and computer peripherals to published products and replica items. We collaborate with top entertainment companies to create quality licensed products and design direct-to-market collectibles for the Blizzard Gear Store.
We are seeking an industry expert in art, design and project management that possesses a portfolio of work across top game and entertainment franchises.
You will work with game development teams to approve projects on behalf of Consumer Products, ensuring they adhere to brand values and core design aesthetics. You will have oversight on all project approvals and will be responsible for handling licensed product submissions.
Your extensive experience in merchandise branding and background in digital, print and manufacturing mediums, will contribute to our exceptional products.
High-quality creative execution, concepting and art direction skills are required with an expertise in visual communication. The position requires 7+ years of professional experience in the entertainment or video game industries. General to advance knowledge of Blizzard franchises is additionally required.
You will:
• In a Design Lead capacity – review, revise and approve Blizzard consumer products
• Management of Product Developers and Graphic Designers assigned to licensed product reviews and new product designs
• Provide high level guidance, iterative reviews and project approvals to Consumer Product teams
• Work with game development Art Directors to ensure products adhere to franchise values
• Integration of design and feature components of Blizzard games into products and packaging
• Ownership of project approvals from start to finish with limited supervision while keeping multiple partners informed and engaged
• Collaborate with Category Managers on product lines and help to communicate release strategies across internal departments
• Build positive relationships with internal and external partners; identify key creative leaders and instill shared creative values and goals around Blizzard Consumer Products
• Collaborate with cross functional / cross department teams to ensure consistency and quality of brand representation.
You have:
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine art, communications, or relevant creative field
• 7+ years’ experience working in the entertainment or video game industries
• 3+ years’ in a design or creative leadership role
• Strong understanding of design fundamentals and the ability to apply Blizzard brand values on a wide variety of consumer products
• Awareness of current trends in graphic design, apparel, video games, leading entertainment franchises and pop culture
• Strong visual skills including layout, logo design, typography and color theory
• Advance proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience with Z-brush and other related creative industry programs a plus
• Able to work with team leads, external partners and directors to align priorities
• Experience tracking complex projects and providing support and insight to clear blocking issues
• Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Pluses
• Experience establishing a primary brand visual identity for a major franchise and handling its successful implementation across multiple consumer product applications
• Game development experience in an artistic leadership role
• Advanced illustration and/or sculpting skills
• Proficient to advance knowledge of Blizzard franchises
