Position Overview

The Director, Finance M&A will represent the broad Finance organization on merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions for Autodesk. This critical role is responsible for working with leaders in each Finance function to navigate, execute and integrate these transactions into (or out of) the business.
This individual will report to the Senior Director of FP&A but will be accountable to all other Finance functions (Operations, Tax and Treasury, Controllership, Sales Finance, Investor Relations, Internal Audit and FP&A) as it relates to M&A. This individual will also partner closely with business leaders and cross functional leads. She/he will have a solid understanding of each function’s realm of responsibility in order to can guide them through all stages of a transaction from initial diligence, term sheet negotiations, integration planning, integration execution and final hand-off. This is a highly visible position and a great opportunity to demonstrate leadership, gain exposure to all parts of the organization, represent the Finance function, and get critical work done.
Responsibilities
• In collaboration with other Finance stakeholders, own the creation and orchestration of a holistic Finance integration plan that drives strategic value for Autodesk while achieving Finance department priorities
• Serve as the single Finance point of contact for all M&A activity with knowledge of specific functions (Operations, Tax and Treasury, Controllership, Sales Finance, Corporate Business Development, Investor Relations, Internal Audit and FP&A) in order to delegate to, engage with and represent the functions as appropriate
• Develop program/project plan and schedule in partnership with other M&A leads and monitor program/project to ensure completion within defined schedule, budget, and quality parameters
• Coordinate technical accounting and financial due diligence with internal teams, consult on key deal terms, assist with the coordination of closing deliverables, engage in the integration process by coordinating functional teams and ensure that the business plan is properly implemented
• Openly and effectively flag when transactions are at risk and demonstrate pro-active problem-solving abilities in such situations
• Develop strong stakeholder relationships and maintain effective communication channels. Consult with others on development and execution of deals. Define practices and processes for managing expectations
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years serving in a similar M&A Finance role
• Minimum 15 years of Finance experience
• Demonstrated program, project management capability and experience running large scale global projects
• Broad understanding of individual Finance functions while maintaining a holistic Finance view
• Must be comfortable directing others (inside and outside of immediate reporting lines) in both a team environment, as well as independently
• Demonstrate courage and willingness to disrupt the status quo in order achieve the best result for Autodesk
• Exceptional presentation, communication and negotiation skills
• Strong business acumen and ability to effectively influence across business lines and varying cultures
• Bias for action, excellent attention to detail and relentless commitment to follow-through
• Comfort with continuous change and ambiguity
• Tech industry experience preferred
• BA/BS Required, MBA or CPA a plus
