Description
The E.W. Scripps Company, an enterprise media company, is seeking a Senior Accountant. This position will perform routine as well as complex accounting reviews, processes and reporting. This job will be located in Cincinnati, OH.
Key activities:
• Prepare journal entries as needed, specifically monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close periods
• Record and review revenue against forecast
• Build review and distribute internal financial information
• Accrual analysis monthly
• Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations monthly
• Review expense accounts throughout month and during close
• Balance sheet review monthly
• Invoice review during monthly close (search for any liabilities that should have been submitted or might have been accrued and expensed
• Review financial structure multiple times throughout close
• Work closely with other departments to gather accounting support for journal entries, specifically purchasing, accounts payable and human resources
• Evaluate standing prepaid and standing liabilities quarterly.
• Evaluation of more complex information to determine compliance with standards.
• Quarterly expense analysis
• Preparation and review of quarterly financial reporting schedules for external reporting
• Assist in preparation of procedural documentation as appropriate.
• Act as coach to staff accountant(s) by training, answering questions, etc.
• Serve as a backup to the Manager, GL/Reporting for month end reporting
• This list is not all inclusive and the staff accountants may performs other reviews or analysis as deemed necessary
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Bachelors of Science Accountancy or related field
• 2 - 3 years' relevant work experience
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred
• CPA preferred
