Job Description:
Product Optimization Associate
About Us (The Product Optimization Team)
What do we do?
The optimization team is responsible for digital testing (A/B & multivariate) across all of Dow Jones’ digital properties, working with product owners to design variations for digital experiences informed by extensive research, prior tests, and gut instinct. We then launch these variations to a percentage of traffic, measuring their impact on performance against the current experience in real time. When a superior experience is found, it is pushed live to 100% of traffic, and the process begins again.
ABT: Always Be Testing.
Why does it matter?
Digital testing injects an unfiltered customer feedback loop directly into product roadmaps, helping businesses develop the most valuable, sticky, meaningful (and thus profitable) product to their customers. In our humble opinion, it is the most powerful discipline for making customer-led product decisions in existence: it’s fishing with dynamite.
About You
What will you do?
You will be a truth-seeking missile, scrappily hunting down data and research that might lead to solid test ideas. You will constantly develop test ideas—based on gut, prior tests, and research—into concrete optimization experiments, which you will prioritize by scalability/profitability and run to improve KPIs. You will create, review, and optimize customer segmentation to maximize conversion through personalized experiences.
To retain the learnings, you will meticulously document your testing activities including results and visuals and ensure that they are appropriately tracked and regularly shared with internal stakeholders. To put the learnings into action, you will execute optimization strategy for internal stakeholders (e.g. Acquisition, Engagement, Product) and request and manage Marketing, Technology, and Editorial asks, all on time and within budget.
What do you bring?
• Deeply empathetic interpersonal skills within complex organizations and an intense curiosity about consumer behavior and preferences
• Exceptional written and oral communication
• Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem-solving capabilities with the aptitude to identify KPIs and request and analyze data
• A healthy skepticism of the status quo
• A demonstrated ability to manage, prioritize, and deliver on a variety of projects with tight deadlines from multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
• An understanding of the told and techniques used in digital product development and product marketing
How much experience should you have?
1+ years of digital product or product marketing experience preferred
