JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Technology & Portfolio Strategy will be a key role in the newly formed Technology Strategy and Delivery department within the FNG Technology division. The Technology Strategy & Delivery department reports directly to the CIO of Fox Networks Group, and works closely with and across the entire FNG Technology division to define and lead the implementation of core operations and related governance and processes.
Reporting directly to the SVP of Technology Strategy & Delivery, the Director will be responsible for providing expertise and leadership of financial, portfolio data and reporting, and performance metrics across the organization. As the organization and department continue to evolve, this position will have the opportunity to contribute to and drive specific areas of oversight towards the overall vision and roadmap. The ideal candidate will thrive in rapidly changing environments, work equally effectively with senior leadership and with peers and other teams, and have experience defining and delivering strategically for incremental progress.
Responsibilities
• Strategic Decision & Investment Analysis
◦ Lead or support the creation of business cases including financial modeling, ROI/IRR, and accurate cost/benefit projections.
◦ Perform assessments related to vendor selection, build/buy/license product comparisons, and create other scenario-based models to enable strategic decision-making.
◦ Perform program, investment and application portfolio analysis to ensure alignment with goals/priorities.
◦ Develop executive level presentations based on in depth quantitative analysis.
◦ Leverage industry research and benchmarking as needed
◦ Perform other ad hoc analysis as requested by CIO and division leadership.
• Demand & Capacity Planning
◦ Lead divisional demand and capacity reporting, providing findings, risk assessment, and targeted recommendations based on assessment of environment, operations and quantitative analysis.
◦ Define models and criteria for categorizing and prioritizing incoming requests in alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
◦ Define and implement standard processes across the division for tracking resource utilization, demand and capacity leveraging department Portfolio Management tools.
◦ Implement demand and capacity planning modeling capabilities within existing or as interfacing tools.
• Financial Management
◦ Manage annual strategic planning & budget cycle for division and department, working closely with FNG Finance and FNG Technology leadership.
◦ Define and implement standard budget roadmap, polices and processes, identifying continuous operational improvements to reduce overhead while optimizing accuracy, transparency and timeliness.
◦ Manage or support all aspects of the budget and finance process, including PO creation, department AP, reporting and forecasting of CapEx and OpEx budgeting.
• Reporting & Portfolio Performance Measurement
◦ Responsibility for division and department metrics and reporting, including overall data quality and governance of internal data sources that support portfolio operations and financials.
◦ Provide visibility of project progress against budget, resource plans and schedule through reporting suitable for executive management audiences to make informed decisions and actions.
◦ Design, implement, and monitor project and portfolio KPIs, metrics, leading indicators, trending, executive presentations, portfolio status reports, and investment trends.
◦ Report on the health and overall program efforts with sound metrics and analytics.
◦ Serve as application owner for primary operating and finance tools, including product roadmap.
• Vendor Management
◦ Lead the preparation, compilation, and coordination of RFP and related contract efforts to procure new technologies and/or services.
◦ Manage contract reviews with key stakeholders and assist with contract renegotiation.
◦ Manage vendor onboarding and invoice process, owning approval management where requested.
◦ Assist with optimizing vendor footprint to take advantage of potential cost savings.
◦ Provide metrics to support overall performance of vendors and department spend allocation.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Four-year college degree in Business or Finance required; MBA preferred
• Minimum 8 years of strategy, financial, decision support, and/or business analytics experience
• Minimum 4 years of in a management position, in Strategy or IT Finance/Investment role
• Past consulting firm experience preferred, within Strategy or Technology based service line
• Technology skills and experience:
◦ Expert level knowledge and proven utilization of Microsoft Excel, including macros and advanced modeling
◦ Must have experience with data analytics and reporting tools, such as Tableau, Business Objects, etc.
◦ Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
◦ Experience with enterprise financial solutions such as SAP or SalesForce ideal
◦ Experience with applications such as Apptio, Workfront, Quip, and Slack relevant but not required
◦ Must be able to adopt new tools and technologies with ease and enthusiasm
• Must have a thorough understanding of cost benefits analysis and capital/operating budget management and forecasting.
• Well-developed analytical skills and professional experience required
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to articulate effectively at all levels and forums, with the ability to synthesize the results of in-depth analysis into executive-level findings
• Must be client focused and have excellent customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities and project sets; strong organizational skills with an ability to track multiple areas of responsibility; detailed-oriented, organized and quality focused in all deliverables and communications
• Ability to incrementally deliver value to an organization, with the commitment, initiative, drive and energy to continually improve and enhance
