Summary
As part of the Experience Design team for the Pearson Higher Ed digital product line, you:
● Develop and implement user-focused, data-informed web- and mobile-based user assistance (UA) as an integral member of a multidisciplinary product team
● Generate accessible UI text and Help that students, instructors, content authors, campus administrators, and Pearson employees use to master our products
● Represent UA within cross-functional product development teams, ensuring that information properly integrates with desired learning principles
● Work with User Experience designers to create the user interface language
● Communicate with Customer Support and other user-facing teams to understand users’ questions and pain points, and propose in-product solutions
● Participate in usability studies, providing script feedback before studies begin, offering real-time suggestions between studies, and using study results when creating deliverables
● Collaborate with peer writers and Pearson colleagues to ensure consistency and the effective reuse of UA content within other Help systems, training, marketing, and support materials
● Actively participate in the evolution of UA approach, design, standards, and best practices
Deliverables
● Help systems that incorporate context-sensitive topics
● In-product orientation (for example, coachmarks)

● Knowledge base (support) content

● Video scripts and tours
Qualifications
Requirements
● At least 7 years of experience as a software technical writer creating outstanding user-focused documentation, with demonstrated ability to write for a non-technical audience
● Excellent written English with a good sense of style and the ability to write simply and in a friendly tone
● BS/BA degree with a technical background
● A portfolio of writing samples showing versatility, creativity, and innovation
● Proficiency with Madcap Flare and HTML editors
● Positive and imaginative approach to problem solving
● Experience applying usability, accessibility, and globalization concepts to the writing process
● Experience developing UA for mobile environments
● Demonstrated ability to work in a large, complex, and distributed organization
● Passion for delivering exceptional customer experience
● Ability to master new products and features quickly and efficiently
● Capable of working without managerial oversight, while keeping managers informed
● Readily able to form strong relationships with other teams, identify areas of collaboration, and connect the dots
● Experience with software development practices and Agile
Bonus points
● Experience writing for the educational community (instructors, students, and administrators)
● Experience creating instructional videos and familiarity with tools such as Captivate or Camtasia
● Familiarity with JIRA
