Summary
XXL Magazine is looking for eager summer interns. Must love hip-hop, from the underground to the top 40. XXL summer interns will assist the editorial staff with research, interview transcriptions, social media and much more. A sufficient portion of the day will be spent monitoring social media trends (hashtags, artists breaking news online, etc.).
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in learning about working in digital and print. Should have previous editorial experience, an interest in social media and be able to get school credit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitoring social media trends via Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook
• Keep an eye out for news (using online resources such as Google and social media)
• Research for print and online articles
• Transcribing interviews for print and online
• Assist with mailings
• Sit in on occasional editorial meetings
Qualifications
• Ability to work for college credit
• Savvy with social media: Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook
• Working knowledge of WordPress
• An eye for trending news
• Knowledge and interest in hip-hop
• Knowledge of AP style
