Position Overview:
Higher Education is changing rapidly, with new course models emerging and advancements in technology. This is making it possible for educators to teach in new ways, and for learners to take control of their education -- and their futures -- so that they can live better lives. In this fast-paced environment, the role of Product Marketing Manager has never been more critical.
As Product Marketing Manager, you are responsible for bringing products to market. You will develop and deliver compelling value propositions and messages for high-profile course areas and brands within Business & Economics. By utilizing customer insights, you will position products and service, develop personae, and inform product strategy and branding decisions. Working with your counterparts around the globe, you will leverage the Pearson brand and launch innovative digital and content solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
• Develop compelling product messages and value proposition for a mix of digital products, market-leading author brands, and educational solutions.
• Create a suite of marketing content and core brand assets (e.g. web content, videos, customer testimonials) for key products and product categories, for use by sales and marketing in all geographies.
• Gather and leverage market insights to fuel innovation; to position products and service offerings at the segment/discipline level; to anticipate course trends; to identify new market opportunities; and to grow share.
• Define product audience and develop personae to inform product development and campaign strategy.
• Conduct comparative analyses of internal and competitive offerings in order to better position our products and campaigns.
• Manage or contribute to market development programs (class tests, pilots, etc.) to elicit customer requirements, demonstrate effectiveness of the product, and identify sales opportunities.
• Partner with market research, learning design, and efficacy teams to measure and promote the value of our solutions for learners and educators.
• Establish key product priorities with the marketing teams in key geographies (e.g.,., North America), and provide product training to ensure successful local marketing sales efforts.
• Maintain a customer relationship management database to track participants and targets in Product Marketing programs.
• Deliver a consistent approach to branding and customer experience across all product categories.
• Work effectively in an evolving, cross functional, fast-paced environment, partnering closely with teams developing digital solutions, editors, authors, sales, and marketing teams in geographic markets.
• Travel as needed to conferences, events, and campuses within the US to inform market knowledge, product and campaign strategy, as well as to contribute to increases in revenue and digital registrations.
Qualifications
• Passion for our social mission to partner with educators to improve learning
• Creative eye for developing marketing messages and assets for use in campaigns
• 2-4 years of relevant experience, such as:
◦ Prior position in publishing or educational technology, with emphasis on developing, promoting, or selling digital solutions; or
◦ Prior position in product marketing
◦ Prior position in education, with emphasis on analyzing data and developing course solutions
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences
• Critical thinker and problem solver who makes data-informed decisions
• Mindset that an evolving industry leads to new possibilities and innovations
• Outstanding team player with experience in building team confidence
• Ability to analyze data and communicate actionable results
• Proficient in Google suite and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Undergraduate degree required
