Overview
HarperCollins is seeking a Marketing Manager for the William Morrow team.
Responsibilities
Metadata
• Leads the metadata optimization efforts for all Morrow imprints – Morrow, Avon, Dey St, Voyager, and Custom House with the goal to drive online book discovery and sales for frontlist and backlist titles including:
◦ Metadata training, consultation, best practices.
◦ An emphasis on SEO, content, and copy optimization, working closely with cross-functional teams to maximize retailer page metadata.
◦ Partners with Associate Publishers to help manage off page key words, DAM cover status/reveals, etc.
◦ Works with Senior Manager, Publishing on shared metadata efforts for HarperOne.
Digital marketing
• Oversees all imprint newsletters, social media platforms, author website builds and landing pages.
• Acts as the liaison with Senior Director, Audience Development and corporate initiatives and marketing projects, including consumer insight.
• Spearheads digital initiatives for Avon in partnership with Marketing and Publicity teams.
• Helps to coordinate all efforts with the Audio department including seasonal meetings, audio shorts, early audio galleys and exclusive content.
• Partners with Editors and Associate Publishers to ensure that Fact Sheets include relevant selling information.
• Works with Copywriters, Editors, APs, Marketing and Publicity on seasonal catalogs.
Backlist Management
• Supports the backlist and paperback republishing efforts across all William Morrow imprints, working closely with the Associate Publisher, marketing, editorial, and sales teams to maximize the selling potential of a huge list of titles.
• Updates all aspects of the metadata for backlist titles (copy, BISACs, additional images, keywords, PIX promo periods and marketing categories, etc.), with a special focus on franchise authors; track sales trends before and after metadata updates.
• Creates/pulls regular backlist reports designed to track current sales (growth or decline) and market trends.
• Identifies new opportunities/themes for ancillary editions and other limited edition or anniversary reissues.
• Supports Associate Publisher in reassigning titles as editors leave; meets with new editors to discuss priorities and review backlist checklist.
• Partners with the Associate Publisher to help lead regular backlist editorial meetings and periodic brainstorming sessions; helps monitor the backlist minutes to keep projects moving.
• Attends reversion meetings with the Associate Publisher; works with Sub Rights team on license renewals, taking back rights, etc.
Qualifications
• 3- 5 years of marketing experience in book publishing and marketing
• Experience using metadata
• Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
• Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work well with all levels of employees
• Experience using wide variety of social media platforms, basic HTML, Photoshop, and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• College degree or equivalent work experience
