Sprint Center is Kansas City's home for live entertainment and sporting events. Anchor to more than $6 billion of reinvestment in a revitalized downtown Kansas City, the award winning venue has welcomed more than 9 million guests attending close to 900 events. Having exceeded attendance and financial projections in each year since opening in 2007, AEG/Sprint Center has provided nearly $10 million in unanticipated revenue to the City of Kansas City through a revenue sharing provision in the arena management agreement.
Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of guest services, security and public safety at Sprint Center. Including but not limited to advancing events with promoters & tour production, risk management, loss prevention, fire/life safety, security/safety training, investigations, budgeting, emergency preparedness, disaster prevention, and personnel management.
Essential Duties:
• Establish annual objectives for all reporting personnel within Security & Guest Services.
• Lead security initiatives and operations including developing, maintaining, and overseeing the operation security tools, surveillance, processes, and policies to protect, detect, and respond to threats and vulnerabilities targeting the venue.
• Create manuals and implement procedures for event and day to day operations including the security command center.
• Work closely with management staff to look after the safety & security of patrons, associates and assets.
• Responsible for influencing compliance with Security & Guest Services policies and providing solutions for security & guest services issues.
• Responsible for staffing, training, counsel, discipline, evaluate, manage and direct staff in accordance with the AEG Security & Guest Services Departments philosophy and policies.
• Review and update security policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
• Develop positive and collaborative relationships with customers, including local, state and federal authorities (police & fire).
• Develop create and implement an effective and sustainable security culture.
• Develop collateral materials for employees and guests i.e. Accessibility Guides/maps, employee manuals etc…
• Develop and manage the review and resolution of guest, employee and show suggestions, complaints and comments.
Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):
• A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)
• Area of Study: Public Service, Safety or related
• A minimum of 7 years of related work experience
• Ability to lead by example.
• Ability to implement and adhere to the Security Departments Prim Directives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to effectively manage, motivate and lead members of a department.
• Proven ability to effectively manage crises and work under pressure.
• Able to obtain and maintain a security commission license.
• Able to efficiently move about 18k seat facility for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):
• Thorough knowledge of fire alarm systems, computerized access control systems, and wireless radio communication.
• Knowledge of all functions of a multi-purpose facility.
• Experience and/or knowledge of security legislation and regulations.
