Needed: An energetic customer-centric and product-loving business leader who can take one of our core consumer electronics categories to new heights! We’re seeking someone who can manage everything from a multi-year roadmap to the day-to-day business management involved in growing a business. You should be as comfortable with ambiguity and ideas as you are with hard numbers. You’ll lead a team of product managers who will support the “next new thing” and help manage the existing line. In the end, you’ll help us reach more customers with the benefits of technology, helping them feel more, do more, and be more.

Category Management in the Consumer Electronics Division is focused on the industry and opportunities in our Headphone, Speaker, Soundbar, Premium Audio, and App/Ecosystem businesses. As the leader of our Premium and Installed category, you will work closely with designers, engineering, marketing, supply chain, and sales to drive growth and contribution margin – from inception of new ideas through end-of-life products. You will lead a team of product managers who leverage primary and secondary research to identify relevant market trends and customer needs, and propose how to meet these needs through product definitions and requirements.
The Director of Category Management is a high-energy person that uses superb communications skills to work equally well with marketing/sales staff, engineers, designers, and executives. Key to your success is your ability to marry creativity (seeing new questions, and imagining new answers) with analytic skills (digging deeply to create clarity from ambiguity). Your abundant self-motivation, creativity, intellectual curiosity, capacity to juggle conflicting priorities, and ability to drive clear decisions in the midst of uncertainty will be your best allies.
Responsibilities:
• Develop compelling category strategies that deliver market-leading customer value – the plan for remarkable products, with the right value proposition, that have customer and market appeal. Be the champion for the customer.
• Drive Category P&L success (category revenue and category contribution margin), developing and leading the execution of plans that lead to agreed upon growth and contribution metrics.
• Ensure that the plans and execution enable a compelling customer experience in line with the brand standards.
• Ensure the execution of the plans meet the strategic and financial goals.
• Manage overall portfolio, product lifecycles, and pricing strategies for category portfolio.
• Regularly report on the state of the business to the VP, CEDs, management team.
• Leverage customer insights, usability studies, market trends, and competitive analysis to develop the vision, product roadmap & product definitions, complemented by a go-to-market plan that results in market leadership.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, marketing, supply chain, and sales to identify creative solutions to difficult challenges and to reach the optimal balance between the vision of the user experience with time to market and product cost
• Build, develop and mentor a world-class team of product managers that create visions for astonishing products and lead individual lines within each business.
• Full people management responsibility including, inspire and attract talent, support performance, recognize and celebrate, empower development and model the Bose E&V

Desired Experience:
• >10 years Product Planning/Management, Business Management, or related experience
• Significant cross-functional leadership experience
• >5 y People Management Experience
• Extensive knowledge about the CE industry is a plus
• International business experience preferred
