Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist with any tasks associated with planning, sourcing, negotiating and procuring raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies as required to support and maintain manufacturing schedules. Identifies manufacturing needs and suppliers, and arranges deliveries of materials
Position Requirements
Essential Job Functions:
• Issue Purchase Orders based on MRP requirements
• Analyze demand requirements to determine most economical delivery
• Maintain Purchase Order data integrity and ensure promise date integrity
• Obtain supplier delivery commitments, and expedite if commitments don’t meet required dates
• Ensure PO pricing reflects the best possible price, re-quoting if necessary
• Resolve supplier issues regarding pricing, delivery, receiving, and quality issues
• Maintain Oracle Purchasing attributes, including pricing
• Maintain and update raw material inventories to meets company demands and guidelines
• Coordinates activities between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance
• Reviews bills of materials and blueprints for accuracy and integrity
• Monitors quality of on-time performance of incoming materials
• Notifies vendors of Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and discrepant materials
• Participate in new product development and accurate costing of new bills of material
• Work with Product Data Management to ensure that all Item Master records necessary for the execution of purchase orders is entered in the system and accurate
• Monitor supplier performance to a continuous improvement plan
• Track and control spending in the assigned commodity group
• Purchases materials for manufacturing and engineering requirements within assigned product lines and dollar limits
• Negotiates price to achieve cost containment/reduction, particularly targeting high cost or high volume items
• Make decisions and/or recommendations on economic order policies
• Obtains multiple quotes whenever possible or as directed
• Establishes blanket orders whenever possible or as directed
• Assists in expediting critical orders as required assuring on-time delivery
• Obtains authorization from requestor for any substitution for a specified part
• Performs other duties as needed upon request by immediate supervisor
• Escalate to Commodity Managers when issues cannot be resolved
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree
Preferred Experience:
• Ability to work closely with other departments and suppliers.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Detail oriented and well organized.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Basic blueprint reading abilities
• Understanding of Inventory Management and Supply Chain
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Experience with Oracle ERP system.
• Exposure to Just-In-Time.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with contract management and business/contract law
• Understanding of material planning concepts required
