Overview and Responsibilities
This position will oversee, plan and direct all aspects of visual effects for Paramount Pictures as directed by the Visual Effects department head.
• Manage VFX Budget for assigned pictures
• Read, breakdown, bid, and budget scripts that come in for review
• Negotiate crew deals on assigned pictures
• Manage vendors on assigned pictures
• Manage special equipment requirements on assigned pictures
• Liaise with Legal in papering VFX contracts on assigned pictures
• Liaise with Filmmakers on assigned pictures
• Liaise with Co-Financed Productions Studio counterparts (i.e. Skydance) on assigned pictures
• Liaise with Marketing and Publicity for trailer, promotional and other needs on assigned pictures
• Manage technical presentations
• Review VFX vendor bids to check technical methodologies and price structure on assigned pictures
• Review dailies on all pictures
• Manage VFX Awards submissions (Academy, British Academy, and Visual Effects Society)
• Participate in all meetings requiring VFX attendance
• Sign off on approval for all VFX expenditures on assigned pictures
• Travel for any picture events requiring VFX studio attendance
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 5 – 10 years relevant work experience
• Experience in Visual Effects Production environment
Additional Qualifications
Desired skills:
• Ability to understand financial plans and budgets
• Strong computer skills including, but not limited to: FileMaker, Excel, Cinesync, Aspera, RV or similar
• Superior skill set in problem-solving, time-management, multi-tasking, and operating in a deadline-driven environment
• Ability to flex both work and communication style in order to transition fluidly between working independently and leveraging team assets
• Great communication and presentation skills
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and responsibilities under pressure with minimal supervision
• Ability to work flexible hours is necessary
• Presents as a seasoned professional, maintain an executive presence and be comfortable interacting with the most senior executives within the organization
