Role Summary
Global Eagle’s Direct Materials team is our strategic sourcing organization focused on leveraging the company’s scale and developing supplier relationships that achieve the best possible quality, technology, cost and delivery for our customers. Our team leads the strategic sourcing of electronics, electromechanical, contract manufacturing, and other strategic spends while building close partnerships with Global Eagle Connectivity business unit.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic leadership around the selection, development, and management of strategic suppliers to meet cost and performance goals for structural/mechanical, electronic and Electromechanical Components.
• Develop subject matter expertise of the targeted commodities, industry trends, product knowledge, emerging technologies, supplier capacity/capabilities through the development and execution of RFI’s, market analysis, benchmarking, supplier capability matrices and technology reviews.
• Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with customers, suppliers, key stakeholders, and category team members. Develop partnerships and establish early involvement with program management and engineering teams to deliver flawless new product introduction with strategic suppliers that achieve targeted BOM cost alignment and meet all program milestones and objectives.
• Reach global consensus of category strategies. Implement innovative solutions, approaches, and methodologies that address present and future supply chain requirements, and execute that vision and multi-year sourcing strategy through key strategic projects/initiatives.
• Achieve supply base rationalization goals that optimize the supply base across the organization to align strategic supply chain capability, standardization, and synergy.
• Lead negotiation and completion of contracts with strategic and preferred suppliers to maximize benefits across vertical markets.
• Meet or exceed BOM cost goals while ensuring quality, delivery, and working capital objectives are met. Identify and execute cost savings opportunities through supplier negotiations, should cost initiatives, value engineering, benchmarking, and quantity buys.
• Drive continuous improvement of supply chain sustainability and efficiency through the development and implementation of supplier assessments and rationalization, negotiation for best total cost of ownership, make versus buy analyses, vendor managed inventories, inventory reduction programs, cycle time improvements, security of supply, supplier diversity, kaizen events, commodity roadmaps, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Implement a rigorous and disciplined process for managing the supply base including leading periodic business reviews, risk assessments, dual sourcing, monitoring and proactively managing supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery, technology, service, and leadership), managing supplier relationships, developing and monitoring year-over-year supplier improvement plans.
• Travel approximately 20-25%
Qualifications/ Technical Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering.
• Minimum of 8+ years of strategic sourcing/commodity management.
• Demonstrated expertise in aviation direct materials commodities that have yielded measurable business results.
• Strong background in building strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Understanding of contractual terms and conditions and approaches to mitigating risk.
• Proficient in MS suite Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project
Preferred Skills
• MBA or graduate degree in related field.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) to various levels of the organization.
• Strong business acumen balanced with technical aptitude.
• Noteworthy continuous improvement projects demonstrating innovation and creativity.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive positive change by team building and gaining support from people and resources across the enterprise.
• Demonstrated success applying should cost methodology and analysis in negotiations.
• Six Sigma or Lean certification and demonstrated success implementing greenbelt projects.
• Significant experience leading the acquisition of custom, complex electronic assemblies.
• Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
• Direct experience with long-term agreements and/or blanket purchase agreements.
• Direct experience negotiation terms & condition
• Building and maintaining valuable work relationships with key vendors, employees, and customers.
• Assisting other departments and program teams in developing and implementing procurement strategies.
• Prepares and review subcontracts, bids, proposals and supplier agreements for legal terms, price and acceptability of offering to specifications.
• Represents the company as its procurement representative in negotiations and other day-to-day interactions as required with key suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintains consistent, direct communications across the supply chain organization and functional teams always.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and functions to ensure the continuous flow of information.
• Deploys cost savings initiatives.
• Directly negotiates and manages high-risk, high-value subcontracts and purchases.
• Minimum 5 years Aerospace industry background
