Second Story is seeking a Senior Content Strategist to join our Portland studio. Content Strategists are passionate storytellers, thorough researchers, and crack writers with the uncanny ability to make the complex simple and deliciously compelling. They can channel the voice of a corporate client about to launch a product that’s going to rock the industry, or a cultural client whose exhibit will set a new paradigm for audiences across the globe. They work on several projects at once, from pitches to deep-dive projects, bringing the ability to think conceptually and quickly put pen to paper. They understand that clear, articulate, and persuasive copy goes hand in hand with crafting beautiful narratives that captivate an audience.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Listen to and learn from clients, becoming the resident expert in their stories, contexts, and audiences
• Write clear, persuasive, original copy in multiple styles, formats, and voices
• Play an instrumental role in client pitches and other new business efforts
• Research, organize, and prioritize content, bringing it to life through compelling narratives
• Conduct stakeholder interviews to capture and synthesize client perspectives

• Play an essential role in the conception and communication of ideas
• Ensure the story remains clear and compelling throughout the project execution
• Proof and edit copy to ensure consistency in tone, style, and grammar
• Perform content QA on deliverables to ensure accuracy of presentation
• Create onscreen user-interface text
• Help document and promote our work by writing project overviews and scripts for case study films
THE CANDIDATE MUST BE
• A cogent and evocative writer
• A meticulous editor
• A self-starter who can move quickly from talking to writing
• Able to work on several projects at once, often under tight deadlines
• Collaborative, professional, outgoing, friendly, and fearless
• A creator and builder of ideas, with a motto of “yes, and...”
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years of experience in a digital/interactive content strategy role
• Experience writing in a diversity of voices across multiple client types
• A history of work across brand and/or cultural clients
• A command of content, information, organization, and presentation
