Marketing Coordinator, Rights & GPP
Overview
We have an amazing opportunity for a Marketing Coordinator to support the Global Publishing Program (GPP), which is a leading-edge international publishing endeavor! Through GPP, HarperCollins has operations in 18 countries and publishes into 17 languages. This role is part of an exciting team tasked with coordinating marketing, sales, rights and publicity efforts in multiple markets simultaneously. This is the perfect role for someone who is hyper-organized, process-oriented and has an interest in publishing on a global scale.
Responsibilities
• Supports the SVP/Director, Foreign and Domestic Rights and Assistant Manager, GPP Marketing in all aspects of the Global Publishing and Global Fiction Programs.
• Works closely with US marketing, publicity, design and editorial teams to source publishing assets.
• Assists in the creation of assets specific to the unique needs of the overseas markets.
• Facilitates approval process for foreign cover art between GPP and US editors / agents.
• Collates overseas requests, including marketing and publicity requests, and strategically work with US teams.
• Acts as point of contact for online global collaboration system:
◦ Works closely with the publishing teams in other offices to assure pipelines and territories are correctly represented in online collaboration system and all key players are engaged.
◦ Solicits and communicates overseas on-sale date “hellos”, sales and publishing updates monthly.
◦ Works with Rights Department to supply assets to online collaboration system including manuscripts, jacket materials and permissions.
• Organizes Global Fiction and Global Publishing Program’s video and phone conference calls for key title launches, as well as compiling marketing templates under the direction of the Assistant Manager.
• Assists project management for author projects, including maintaining task lists, on-time completion of marketing/PR deliverables, and making sure all deadlines are met.
• Assists in territory market and other research projects.
• Maintains Rights Department submission logs of front and backlist titles.
• Handles miscellaneous rights queries from our GPP offices.
• Runs various reports and generates official documentation for rights transactions.
• Works with the central team to continuously update and document the program’s overall successes.
Qualifications
• 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
• At least 1 year of related experience in publishing, project management or marketing
• Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize a large volume of work
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively across various business functions and levels across the organization
• Ability to take initiative, follow-up, and see projects through to completion
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with online collaboration/project management system (Basecamp, Box, Wrike, etc.), a plus
• Interest in global publishing
