Requirements
Position Description:
We’re seeking a diligent, motivated, and meticulous individual to join our busy Contracts team. The Contracts Associate will draft and negotiate acquisition contracts, amendments, and other forms of publishing IP agreements for children’s books; handle contract data management; and assist with copyright registrations and other contract related tasks.
Major Responsibilities:
• Drafting various forms of book acquisition agreements, and other related documents (amendments, terminations, etc.)
• Negotiating agreements to completion. This involves extensive communication with authors and agents, as well as in-house editors, legal counsel, and other staff.
• Managing signature and payment processing via DocuSign
• Entering information into, maintaining and updating contracts management database
• Assisting the Contracts Manager with copyright registrations
• General administrative support and special projects as needed
Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Experience using Microsoft Office
• Interest in book publishing and contracts
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
Experience Needed:
• 2-3+ years’ experience in trade publishing contracts
• Children’s publishing contracts experience a plus
Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s degree
