OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY20th Century Fox
One of the world's largest producers and distributors of motion pictures, 20th Century Fox Film (TCFF) produces, acquires and distributes motion pictures throughout the world. These motion pictures are produced or acquired by the following units of 20th Century Fox Film: Twentieth Century Fox, Fox 2000 Pictures, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox International Productions, and Twentieth Century Fox Animation. During fiscal 2017, TCFF placed 25 motion pictures in general release in the United States. The motion pictures produced and/or distributed by TCFF in the United States and international territories in fiscal 2017 included Hidden Figures, Logan, Jackie, and The Boss Baby. TCFF has released or currently plans to release approximately 23 motion pictures in the United States in fiscal 2018.
JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE:
The Feature Film Participation group has an opening for a skilled accountant to join a five person team responsible for preparing and issuing participation accounting statements to talent, investors and other studios summarizing the financial performance of films released by Twentieth Century Fox. This is a Union OPEIU Local 174 position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare moderate to complex feature film participation statements for issuance to talent and investors in accordance with overall department policies and procedures utilizing an Excel-based spread sheet application platform.
• Compile and analyze accounting system reports and on-line resources to ensure the accuracy, completeness and validity of the financial data used in the preparation of the statements.
• Perform accounting reconciliations utilizing the PeopleSoft financial accounting system and other financial systems to run reports, drill down into data and research transactions.
• Perform financial computations including breakeven calculations, interest calculations, and cross-charging of payments between payees.
• Ensure the completeness of electronic records within the Participation System Application.
• Prepare and process participation payments.
• Assemble, copy and file workpapers.
• Perform other accounting related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.A. Degree in Accounting, Finance preferred or commensurate level of work years in lieu of a degree.
• Must have completed extensive accounting coursework.
• Solid analytical skills and a proficiency in working with numbers and financial concepts.
• Must be detail-oriented, pro-active, have the ability to self-review and work independently.
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment as well as prioritize and troubleshoot issues.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Word. Ability to understand and apply Excel spreadsheet formulas.
• Exposure to General Ledger applications such as PeopleSoft or SAP or other financial data applications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in television and/or feature film participation accounting and/or in a financial capacity in the entertainment industry a plus.
• Previous experience with interpreting and applying financial provisions of legal agreements a plus.
• Flexibility to work overtime as required.
