Midroll Media, named one of Fast Company's most innovative companies of 2016, is growing! We're looking for a Production Associate to join our team in NYC.
You will support the staff and production of Freakonomics Radio by assisting a team of producers and engineers in: managing workflow, working with talented writers, hosts and performers; conducting research, and generating innovative audio storytelling. The Production Associate will bring a curiosity and passion for podcasts. We're looking for someone ambitious, and eager to contribute to Freakonomics Radio's growth and continued success. You'll need to be flexible: a go-getter with a can-do attitude, and ready for anything. This position reports directly to the Executive Producer of Freakonomics Radio.
Started in 2010 by host Stephen J. Dubner, Freakonomics Radio is one of the most successful podcasts in the world with 10 million listeners each month. Freakonomics Radio features surprising conversations with Nobel Laureates, provocateurs, social scientists and entrepreneurs, to explore the hidden side of everything.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing administrative and editorial support to the Executive Producer and production staff
• Arranging logistics of guest interviews (i.e. booking and confirming guests, communicating with remote studios and tape syncs, testing recording lines, etc.)
• Maintaining show calendar and schedule of tapings
• Managing transcription services
• Assisting during tapings and production for the show including greeting hosts and guests, and ensuring their comfort in studio; and logging
• Researching and conducting pre-interviews and booking of potential guests
• Field reporting and/or recording
• Cutting interview and tracking tape
• Proposing show and segment ideas
• Creating and posting social media content, and other outreach tasks as assigned
• Being ready to pitch in on any part of the production process
Education & Experience/Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Background in journalism and audio preferred
• Knowledge of and/or prior experience with audio production, particularly Pro Tools, preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
• Superb project management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly organized with ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and quality; meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize quickly based on changing priorities and business needs
• We are a Google and Microsoft Office-driven environment. Comfort with Word, Google Docs, Slack, Streak, Excel, WordPress, web-based CRM and project management tools, and content management systems required
• Experience in social media outreach including Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook and others
• A self-starter with the ability to take initiative and a demonstrated history of problem solving
