We are looking for a highly experienced, seasoned research professional to lead a team of centralized, high-performing researchers to develop and manage internal client relationships, building trust and driving strategy through insights.

Reporting directly to the Head of Research and Insights, you will lead a global team of energetic and passionate researchers who will simulate an agency model by being client-centric, dynamic and adaptable to perform at high levels, ensuring that insights are used and elevated within the organization to make strategic decisions at Pearson.
This is a critical enabling, and operational position that “keeps the lights on” and works closely with the Head of insights to lead, manage, and support a 25-person research organization. Because this will be a newly formed organization, you should be comfortable in a startup environment, and be willing to roll up your sleeves and wear multiple hats as we get the function up and running in 2018.
Key Responsibilities:
• Control planning, vendor management, staffing, budgeting, and governance of the Research function
• On an ongoing basis, review the ways of working and processes to ensure that we are being as efficient and effective as possible in supporting the research organization
• Manage the research team by cultivating a culture of curiosity, insight generation and analytical thinking
• Proactively manage “accounts” ensuring overall financial account health and appropriate team allocation
• Build a creative, energetic high-performing team that understands the distinction between research and strategic insights.
• Ensure that all programs and projects are aligned to business goals and are being delivered according to expectations
• Establish best practices and consistency in research approaches across Pearson
• Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge management function in order to ensure that insights are centralized and easily accessible
• Manage ongoing training programs for the team
• Act as a “face” for high-profile, strategic research projects, in addition to managing the team
Qualifications
• Substantial experience in a senior roles and or similar experience in client management in marketing, market research, consumer insights, consulting, operations and/or communications
• Must have demonstrated expertise with quantitative survey design and management, as well as advanced data analysis skills, gained from at least eight years of experience leading research studies (preferably in the market research industry).
• Must be a recognized expert in a wide variety of research methodologies and advanced analyses, including market segmentation and classification, driver analysis, landscape mapping, and conjoint studies and Regression analysis.
• Deep understanding of research methods (qualitative, quantitative) as well as emerging methods (social listening, syndicated reports, analytics)
• Must be highly skilled at working with clients, including those from various backgrounds and with differing business needs. This person must be capable of providing clients with high-quality consultation.
• Strong writing, communications and presentation skills - with the ability to distill complex data and insights into something digestible and interesting
• Strong account management background, including past experience managing client accounts and business development
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage and mentor high-performing teams
• Higher / professional education, tech experience, and/or agency experience preferred
• Ability to travel (up to 20%)
