JOB DESCRIPTION
The FOX Network Center in The Woodlands, TX is seeking a Media Services Manager to join their team. The position is responsible for planning, directing, overseeing and leading the operations of the Media Services Department which ensures all materials are recorded, prepped, ingested, and available for air. Responsibilities include: supervising and mentoring department staff establishing and monitoring procedures for department staff to ensure quality of product and low error rate; ensuring employees are trained and cross-trained; supervising the employee schedules and workload; ensuring all cut sheets and problem reports are generated and available; overseeing the quality review and ingest of all content; and keeping file server inventories current through purging. The ideal candidate should have 5 plus years in a managerial capacity overseeing multiple functions or departments. Also, previous work history should include supervising a staff of at least 10 or more individuals, training and managing diverse work schedules, preferably in a 24/7 work environment.
Duties Include:
• Provide oversight and direction to the employees in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
• Provide effective performance feedback through performance evaluations, employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of the Director and Human Resources
• Develop and empower supervisors to administer staff development items properly
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with external customers (WorldLink, Programming, Traffic, Operations and Production) and internal clients (On-Air Operations, Commercial Operations, Network Operations, Ticker and Engineering)
• Maintain clear communication and appropriately communicate organizational information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, IM, and regular interpersonal communication
• Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output
• Monitor performance and follow up closely and make adjustments to assure the accomplishment of the goals
• Evaluate, review and assess the success of the initiatives and the allocation of employees and resources
• Review performance data that includes financial and activity reports and spreadsheets to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness
• Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishments
Qualifications
• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Communications, Radio/TV or Library Science or commensurate experience
• A minimum of 5 years in a managerial capacity overseeing multiple functions or departments is preferred
• Previous work history should include supervising a staff of at least 10-15 individuals, training and managing diverse work schedules, preferably in a 24/7 work environment and is flexible in working various shifts, days and hours if required
• 3+ years in a broadcast television environment is highly preferred
• Must be capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing with all levels of internal and external personnel - the ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful
