Seeking Studio Manager for Brooklyn studio of contemporary artist Teresita Fernández
Full-time position
Compensation commensurate with prior experience.
The Studio Manager’s core responsibility is to manage all aspects of the artist’s studio and small studio team, work closely with the artist on projects, maintain a positive work environment, take pride in representing the studio and our facilities (both digital and physical) to make sure they are well cared for on a daily basis. This position is for someone who is versatile between administrative/ managerial and art/design-oriented skills and who can handle a multitude of tasks, both large and small. It is a good fit for a highly self-motivated and organized individual who wants to be immersed in contemporary art and related tasks in a long-term position with growth opportunities.
Duties include:
-Acting as the main point of contact for the studio
-Being the liaison between galleries, museums, press requests, bios, etc.
-Must have excellent writing and organizational skills and strong verbal communication skills
-Managing production expenses, budgets and details connected to works being produced in and out of the studio
-Must have experience with digital imaging, model-making. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel, Powerpoint, a must
-Maintaining a digital archive of all works, updating files, updating bio/bibliography
-Managing all studio email correspondence, artist’s calendar, and studio timeline for projects/ deadlines.
-Must be able to manage a small team of studio employees as well as new hires for temporary projects
-Arranging crating, packing, pick up, delivery of works etc.
-General organizing and upkeep of studio space, ensure supplies are in stock
-Prior experience managing an art studio or similar environment(with referrals) a must.
