JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for analyzing and issuing participation accounting statements to producers, directors, writers, investors and talent based on contractual reporting obligations for various Fox and FX produced and distributed television products. Assist the Executive Director in preparing complex audit claim schedules and act as liaison with other finance divisions while handling third party participation audits. Review and analyze key schedules including but not limited to production cost reports, production deficit recoupment reports, co-producer studio distribution statements for accuracy and compliance of contractual reporting. Demonstrate the ability to be an independent thinker as well as a self-starter.
Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Director with research of audit requests and analyze audit claims, liaising with the various Fox Finance divisions to explain variances to support Fox’s position on the audit claims.
Review and analyze Production Cost reports, Production Deficit Recoupment reports, Co-financing Studios distribution statements for accuracy and compliance with terms of the agreement.
Ability to read, understand and interpret talent and production agreements in order to set up the initial participation statements and to administer them in accordance with the deal terms in the Participations System.
Prepare complex third party participation statements as well as assisting the manager in reviewing of monthly statements as prepared by the accounting clerks for accuracy and timely reporting.
Maintain and review passive participation statements as received from outside studios and to compare these statements against the agreements to ensure contractual compliance and tracking for audit tolling and incontestability periods.
Perform ad hoc analysis and other related accounting duties, including assist in annual Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing and year-end corporate audit.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree specializing in Accounting, Business Administration and/or Finance preferred.
Minimum of 5 plus years television and/or motion picture participation accounting experience in the entertainment industry.
Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook and accounting systems.
Financial, analytical and communication skills necessary to perform the administration of participation reporting.
Ability to handle a high volume of work flow and prioritize multiple projects in various stages of completion and meet hard deadlines.
Ability to problem-solve and utilize critical thinking to create and implement solutions.
Ability to act as a liaison between TV Participation group and other Fox business units.
Must be pro-active, quick learner and detail oriented with the ability to connect seemingly unrelated data and able to work independently.
Familiarity with participation accounting principles and television distribution accounting and terminology.
Ability to work overtime as required.
