Senior Director/Director, Audience Development & Digital Marketing- BET
Overview and Responsibilities
The Sr. Director or Director of Audience Development & Digital Marketing will be a key member of BET Digital’s team, and will play a critical role in driving innovative, actionable and efficient digital audience development and marketing campaigns that build awareness, drive traffic, and create overall business value to support the growth of BET Digital’s network of sites, apps, social footprint, and third party partnerships.
This role is responsible for collaborating with a variety of key constituents, including the Editorial Newsroom, Ad Operations, Production, UX & Design, Network Marketing, and Digital Analytics & Research teams. Charged with setting strategy and overseeing a robust budget, this individual will execute and oversee all of BET Digital’s traffic/customer acquisition and marketing campaigns via all available channels including search, email, display, and social. The Sr. Director or Director will be a key leader and a respected voice in the overall strategy and direction of BET Digital, and will report directly to the VP of Digital Strategy, Operations and Business Intelligence, and be based in New York.
Responsibilities
• Leverage internal and 3rd party data to develop, execute, and oversee innovative, creative, efficient, and effective marketing strategies that raise awareness, grow traffic and increase usage and consumption of BET Digital’s content, products, and tentpole events
• Create innovative and measurable on-brand digital marketing programs (SEM, SEO, Facebook, display, among others) for all platforms and products
• Develop culture and processes for relentless optimization of digital marketing campaigns through iterative process of testing, evaluation and adjustment
• Oversee and manage the efficient and effective allocation of budget and resources to deliver against goals and digital priorities
• Lead the development of strategic marketing/traffic/customer acquisition partnerships, creative executions, and influencer programs
• Evaluate, hire, and develop relationships with existing and new platforms, partners and vendors; review, recommend, and manage tools, services, and vendors
• Partner with Digital Analytics UX & Design, Editorial and Product teams to align with key BET Digital priorities, and measure progress against digital marketing goals
• Train, educate, lead and influence your BET Digital peers to align with your goals/needs to produce a high-performing team of digitally-savvy customer/traffic acquisition marketers serving the strategic goals of the business
Basic Qualifications
• 8-10 years digital marketing experience within consumer focused industries; at least 5 years specifically in audience development and digital media
• BA/BS degree or equivalent working experience; MBA preferred
Additional Qualifications
• Ability to stay up-to-date on industry developments and competitors and to be active in the media community
• Ability to closely manage budgets and timelines on concurrent campaigns supporting diverse business goals
• Solid experience managing and working within a team of dedicated digital professionals
• Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and be comfortable and confident addressing challenging situations effectively as well as experienced in affecting change and direction
• Strong successful track-record in the development and implementation of major digital initiatives, with a proven track record with metrics-based marketing campaigns on digital platforms
• Knowledge of best practices to grow presence and fan base on key video and social platforms
• Proficiency with digital analytics tools (e.g. Omniture, Google Analytic, comScore) and Excel, PowerPoint etc.
• Hands on experience managing paid digital campaigns (PPC, search, display, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and budgets, overseeing vendors and platforms
• Proven ability to promote/market digital products, mobile apps, and sites
• Experience optimizing, growing and managing email programs
• Excellent communication skills and extremely strong organizational skills a must
