JOB DESCRIPTION
WTTG/WDCA – General Assignment Reporter (Full time, Regular)
Research, write, produce and report stories -- both live and taped -- for on-air newscasts, streaming webcasts & special stories. Work w/ producers, editors, & photographers to create and produce news stories & investigations. Must have excellent live reporting, writing, and storytelling skills, as well as proven social media contributions and consistent digital engagement. Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines is a must. Maintaining a strong roster of contacts and sources is required. Work accurately/efficiently within time constraints.
Qualification: Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must possess specific expertise in research and computer-assisted reporting. Must be a strong writer and communicator. A professional appearance is essential. Must speak clearly, and maintain a clear delivery of both live and taped reports. Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus. Four-year college degree required. Local/national travel, weekends, holidays and varied hours required. Two years exp. Broadcast TV reporting in top 75 market required. Must have proficiency with newsroom computers and related software required. DC/MD/VA driver’s license & MVR required. Must be able to drive. Candidates must submit resume and tape.
