Vice President, Record to Report (RTR)
The successful candidate will assume a senior position within the Finance Operations organization, to support Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Record to Report (RTR) accounting processes. The RTR Global Leader will report directly to the Head of Finance Operations and have accountability to the SPE Finance Chief Accounting Leader. The position owns the delivery of the RTR processes across the company, drives ongoing process quality improvement for RTR, is responsible for ensuring adherence to compliance requirements, and is accountable for the quality of the team’s work output. In addition, this position will be consulted on decisions related to operational management of the Shared Service Centers (SSC), regional shifts, and team resourcing to support Lines of Business.
Responsibilities
Own the delivery of the Record to Report (RTR) function for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
• Manage a global team driving all RTR activities for all lines of business and corporate
• Ensure accurate and timely closing of the books, including collaboration with HQ and Line of Business Finance teams
• Lead the team in developing accurate and timely reports on company actuals including variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, compliance requirements, etc. across the RTR execution
• Lead ongoing policy governance, and compliance of work instructions and policies, which can also include setting and enforcement of the policy
• Work with HQ leadership on RTR service delivery
• Interact directly with the other Functional Process Owners (PTP and OTC) to resolve issues, ensure accurate financials, meet customer needs, etc.
• Ensure agreed Service Levels are met across all RTR activities
Manage finance policies, procedures, governance, risk and compliance
• Facilitate implementation of the finance governance, risk, compliance, and quality strategies
• Monitor compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Ensure integrity of data and conformance to company policies and external regulations including statutory requirements and the preparation and submission of tax filings
• Investigate identified audit findings, implement corrective actions and monitor compliance with agreed recommendations
• Set and enforce approval limits
• Manage systems and process controls
• Demonstrate the ability to leverage business and financial data and systems to ensure quality (accuracy and completeness) of transactions
• Coordinate the development, implementation, and ongoing alignment to Key Performing Indicators to ensure quality and prompt response and reporting to SPE Lines of Business
• Coordinate and execute an ongoing assessment of financial reporting risks and key controls across the organization
• Identify, document and communicate business process and control improvement opportunities
• Conduct training sessions on company processes, systems and tools
• Identify and implement remediation of controls gaps
• Drive continuous improvement for the end to end Record to Report process
• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight globally as it pertains to SPE RTR processes
• Identify, document, and communicate business improvement suggestions that accurately portray business risks and opportunities for improving controls
• Strategically lead implementation of the design and function of the organization’s accounting operations and chart of accounts, according to relevant leading practice. Produce guidelines and policy for accounting operations and formulate risk mitigation strategies
• Investigate the uses of RPA, Blockchain, machine learning, and other technologies that will support the automation of financial processes
• Facilitate the implementation and sharing of leading practices across RTR resource teams
• Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma concepts to support process continuous improvement
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required. MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of professional experience with background in process improvement, Finance business processes (RTR), Operations, program management, change management and/or ERP implementation and governance
Knowledge & Skills:
• Understanding of accounting processes associated with the Media & Entertainment industry
• Significant experience of managing RTR processes, or other core finance, accounting or strategic planning processes, within a complex, large volume environment
• Appreciation of US GAAP, IFRS and regulatory requirements
• Working knowledge of intelligent automation technologies (RPA, Blockchain, AI, Machine Learning, etc.)
• Demonstrated understanding of predictive analytics, insights, and related supporting tools
• Strong familiarity of working month-end reporting process and standards
• Comprehension of the different components and interdependencies of the organization’s chart of accounts
• Working knowledge of SAP Financials, BW, BPC, ECC
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience working in an international organization, preferably within a Shared Service Center
• Demonstrated ability to analyze information and identify trends
• Proven leader and good interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport across the organization
