Description
Newsy's innovative Chicago newsroom is looking for a talented technical Producer/Director to help lead the technical execution of daily live control room productions. You'll work with both independently and with reporters and producers to put great television news on the air.
Responsible for on-air operation of the automated control room system to assist with the production of Newsy live newscasts. Also performs newscast pre-production functions, including videography and editing video elements. Reports to Director of Production.
What you'll do
• Help lead the look and technical execution of daily live control room productions.
• Work with producers and anchors for pre-packaged production, studio shot planning and graphics integration.
• Knowledge of automated control room system and ability to help train others on how to operate.
• Technical knowledge of backup control room systems and critical production signal flow.
• Knowledge of studio systems, including handheld camera operation, robotic camera operation and "aux" signal flow for monitor feeds.
• Ability to assist with remote set-ups and field switching.
• Build graphics as assigned.
• Produce digital video as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Coordinate with Scripps broadcast hub counterparts to ensure all operations are handled smoothly
What you bring
• Must have the ability to work on fast-paced, rapidly-changing productions for extended periods.
• Constant viewing of multiple video and computer monitors.
• Ability to multitask using computer keyboards and equipment control panels
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Final Cut X (Motion skills a plus)
• Videography experience a plus
• College degree in journalism, engineering or communications/video production preferred.
• Currently or recently performing duties as digital journalist or a technical director of automated live programming, preferably at least 1 year prior experience.
• Working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects.
• Familiar with routers, video servers, audio consoles, studio cameras, graphics systems and studio production equipment.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.
