SUMMARY
The Product Solution Manager is a solution manager for enabling business models on new platforms to help Pearson dynamically advance its technical landscape while maintaining continuity for highly successful revenue channels. The Product Solution Manager must be fluent in services development, business model definition, commercialization, and online learning delivery for our learners, instructors and education partners. The role includes requirements aggregation and synthesis and prioritization across contributing programs that will transform Pearson’s business, so strong collaboration and constituent management skills are important in addition to technical prowess.
• The primary accountability of the Solution Manager is to define and deliver solutions (with the cross-functional team) in response to the problems to be solved defined and prioritized to support business goals.
• A primary focus of Solutions Management is working with Capabilities Programs to orchestrate and assemble capabilities contributions to solutions prioritized for delivery to customers.
• Many dimensions of the Solutions Management work in terms of solution definition, backlog management, and cross-functional product development work mirror that of Product Capabilities Managers, but work across capabilities to deliver holistic solutions.
• The Solutions Manager is a critical role focused on orchestrating capabilities program support for value stream goals into solutions that meet the needs of the value stream as defined by business strategy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop storymaps, detailed user stories, and other documentation to support the Value Stream development process.
• Manage and execute on the product model roadmaps roadmap in response to application requirements and in coordination with the other development groups contributing services for the Pearson platform strategy.
• Responsible for the successful delivery of software development projects and accountable to others for maintaining relevant scope and meeting timelines.
• Serve as product owner in agile development forums (like daily scrum, iteration planning and iteration reviews).
• Evolve our content and application delivery. This includes product development around internal workflows, alignment with and influence over Pearson application delivery practices, and integration solutions leveraging existing Pearson systems and repositories.
• Develop effective relationships with other relevant development groups to understand, influence and coordinate on integrations development topics.
• Troubleshoot and facilitate the resolutions of production issues.
Qualifications

This position will have shared responsibility for the vision, scope, and production deployment of services comprising commercialization capabilities, with the goal of creating reusable models that serve diverse market channels.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 5 years of software product/project management experience
• Strong technical understanding appropriate for driving a nascent services program to maturity.
• Ability to present ideas and plans clearly, and confidently to all levels of management and customers
• Experience and expertise in online publishing, online learning products or comparable.
• In-depth familiarity with Agile software design, development and release practices
• Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
• Ability to participate effectively and build consensus on a cross-functional team
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects during the same time period
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to make timely and sound decisions
• Detail oriented
