Job Summary
In support of the Enterprise Machine Learning Analytics and Persistent Services (eMAPS) US Government Program, the Senior Network Analyst will be required to develop and/or improvise tools as well as maintain a Capacity Planning and Modeling System (CPMS) incorporating the ingest of multi-source network installation and operational information. The CPMS will be utilized by the Senior Network Analyst, an engineering team, and program/network management to track current build-outs, forecast traffic usage, identify current and future bottlenecks, develop strategic architecture (encompassing Layers 1‑3), develop recovery models, and provide timely reports and status to internal and external stakeholders. Be able to develop impact analysis before recommending any congestion relief activities.
Position requires very strong customer service skills, clear and concise communication capabilities, and ability to manage multiple and diverse technology issues to resolution, with minimal supervision. A self-motivator, this position requires someone to be resourceful in identifying issues and being able to escalate.
Job Description
• Reduce risk of degraded availability of mission-critical services
• Provide up-to-date insight into available capacity and risk factors
• Simulate and model effects of proposed projects and requested changes to the infrastructure prior to implementation
• Review trends requiring engineering attention and make recommendations
• Produce ad hoc resource usage reports, deliverables, and performance metrics analysis and reports – suitable for all levels of mission support
• Analyze performance data identifying bottlenecks and recommending alternative resolutions
• Enable planning of future network innovation through modeling and simulations
• Coordinate with operations, engineering, program teams and other departments in the company
• Perform testing of networks of various configurations and types
• Develop and review network performance metrics and analyzes results
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to relate technical issues to management and Government personnel
• Understands and adheres to Federal, customer site and company policies and practices
• Working knowledge of network analysis tools,reporting techniques, software and equipment
Qualifications
• BS in IT/Engineering or equivalent work experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills: effectively and efficiently gathers, understands, and clearly articulates both customer and internal requirements and expectations to desired outcomes
• CLEARANCE:Current TS/SCI eligibility at time of application; Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or Single Scope Background Investigation Periodic Review (SSBI-PR) within the last five years that was favorably adjudicated
• Have no break, greater than 24 months, in military service, Federal civilian employment, or access to classified information under the Industrial Security Program
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant telecommunications experience
• Advanced knowledge of telecommunication networks of various types (MPLS, Ethernet, SONET, etc and configurations (star, mesh, ring, etc.)
• Applicant will have experience in Capacity Planning and Performance modeling, forecasting, and tuning for Distributed Systems (preferably encompassing Layer 1-3)
• Experience and in-depth knowledge of developing capacity Planning and Performance metric
Education
Bachelors or Equivalent in Engineering General
