JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Manager of Travel Agent Sales manages the National Geographic Expeditions’(NGE) relationship with Virtuoso member agencies and other top travel agent relationships. The Senior Manager is responsible for executing a strategy to build this key distribution channel, managing the creation and delivery of print and web-based promotional materials, conducting training through webinars, building relationships with top-producing travel agencies, representing NGE at industry trade shows, and providing general travel agent support.
• Execute an integrated strategy to significantly grow NGE travel agent sales, which includes identifying top potential travel advisors and building awareness, knowledge, engagement and enthusiasm among key travel advisors. Represent NGE at industry trade shows and identify other opportunities to raise awareness of NGE among the travel advisor community
• Increase brand awareness and sales of the NGE products
• Develop a plan for training travel agents. Create and deliver a series of webinars and on-site trainings for travel agents to teach them how to sell NG Expeditions products
• Ensure that travel agents are properly trained and knowledgeable about NGE products
• Manage the creation and maintenance of National Geographic Expeditions' educational and marketing materials and tool kits for the travel advisor community, including all Virtuoso/consortium marketing, in collaboration with the NGE Marketing team
• Ensure that advisors/agents always have the assets needed to promote NGE products
• Maintain internal documents related to travel agent sales and ensure all teams have current and accurate procedural information
• Ensure that internal procedures related to travel agent sales are followed
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years of sales experience within the travel industry
• Familiarity working with the Virtuoso travel network and advisor community highly desired
• Applicants should have demonstrated experience working with top-tier travel products
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Analyze key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement
• Ability to conduct in-depth business analysis and recommend practical solutions
• Must be competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; as well as Outlook
• Experience working with a reservation system/database highly desired
• Proven record of increasing sales for an organization within the travel industry
• Must be a self-starter, a relationship builder, service-minded, and detail-oriented with excellent analytical, sales and communication skills
• Demonstrated interest in travel and exploration and an appreciation for cultural awareness and exchange
