Assistant Editor, Seventeen.com
Seventeen is looking for a passionate editor who loves to write about all things celeb and entertainment and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Editor will report to Seventeen’s Digital Director and be responsible for Seventeen’s celebrity and entertainment coverage. The ideal candidate will be obsessed with celebs, TV, movies and music, and all things teen and be willing to pitch in wherever needed.
Responsibilities:
• Research and write daily celebrity and entertainment content for the website, including TV show, movie, and music round-ups; in-depth SEO-friendly slideshows; and industry news teens care about most
• Pitch in to cover other topics and news in the teen sphere as needed
• Find, select, and edit compelling images to accompany stories
• Use Google analytics to track stories and help inform pitches
• Optimize stories for SEO and social
• Use your entertainment expertise to pitch in on memes and other social content that will help build our social media following
• Update on-site stories as needed
• Book, wrangle, and interview celeb talent for videos that live on our social channels
• Think of new celeb show angles that will speak to our audience
• Write all celeb videos into interesting posts that will perform on Seventeen.com
Requirements:
• 1-2 years of experience in celeb and entertainment-related writing
• A talent for quick turn-arounds on clean, voice-y, accurate copy
• A healthy obsession with celebrities and shows that teens are obsessed with
• Super strong writing skills
• A knack for collaboration and strong communication skills
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
• Occasional weekend and evening coverage of events and award shows
• Photoshop and Adobe Premiere skills are a plus!
• Bachelor's degree
