Job Summary
The successful Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for executing the go-to-market strategy and tactics for our global EPFR product line targeting asset managers and hedge funds. The Product Marketing Manager’s key objectives are to create and implement a business and marketing strategy that will demonstrate the value of EPFR’s offering in the investment process and grow the business through acquisition of new customers and expanding product adoption and spend with existing ones.
Core responsibilities and deliverables include go-to-market plans, product positioning and messaging, understanding of the key buyer personas, and development of product collateral. Following the Pragmatic Marketing framework, Product Marketers are accountable for delivery of a range of specified elements in the framework including: product and market messaging, competitive positioning, marketing content and collateral, lead generation strategy, promotional strategies, customer segmentation.
The role requires PMMs to lead, influence and work closely with vertical leadership, product and content colleagues, sales heads, client services and marketing communications to ensure each understand and implement the strategy and objectives.
The Product Marketing Manager is to act as the “voice of the customer” by gaining a deep understanding of the investor persona – asset managers, hedge fund managers, researchers and analysts—and driving customer engagement with the product, throughout the lifecycle and using this and broader market insight to develop and implement the marketing strategy and marketing & promotional mix.
The ideal candidate will:
• Identify, engage and influence key internal and external stakeholders that are relevant to achieving the business targets.
• Identify and define the most commercially attractive target markets and customer segments to achieve the strategy. Drive the associated core market messaging, sales tools and collateral.
• Research competitive and alternative offerings in the market. Assess their strengths and weaknesses, and develop a strategy for winning business from them through pricing and promotional strategies
• Articulate and leverage the company’s unique ability to deliver investment value to the market, to drive key product strategies and roadmaps (new product offerings or product enhancements)
• Work closely with Product Management on the internal product roadmap, messaging and positioning to ensure the sophisticated investor clearly understands and values EPFR’s offering.
• Work closely with Sales to ensure effective delivery of Sales enablement materials.
• Clearly articulate the GTM marketing plan to the marketing communications team so they fully understand purpose, objectives and success criteria.
• Actively seek to understand the buy-side/investment community needs and pain points, and quickly address issues highlighted through the collection of qualitative and quantitative data
• Demonstrate an understanding of our competitive landscape, our comparative position and market perception, and how we need to differentiate and position ourselves through our pricing and promotion strategies.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Ability to effectively and articulately write and communicate complex financial solutions in market and customer terms
• Product marketing and content marketing skills and experience in a B2B marketing role
• Experience in implementing marketing strategies that have provided insight and understanding of customers, competitors, proposition and pricing in the Financial Services industry
• Strong customer focus – able to identify and differentiate between customer personas, focus on their needs and engage them through communications activities
• Experience supporting the development of go-to-market plans and budgets for the marketing activity that align with key strategic objectives identified
• Experience in a Financial Industry marketing role will be a great advantage, especially winning and keeping asset management clients with complex buying structures.
• Demonstrate expertise in segmentation techniques, and customer lifecycle planning to positively impact retention rates and new acquisitions
• Results-driven – ensure that marketing campaigns fulfill strategic goals and drive the required business results, persistently seeking to improve business performance, with the energy and tenacity to address bottlenecks and barriers
Requirements:
• 3-5 years product marketing experience, ideally in the Financial Services industry
• Prior experience working at or marketing to Financial Firms or Institutions
• Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
• Experience maintaining marketing budgets and assessing costs and benefits
• Experience of campaign management, utilizing all aspects of the promotional mix across all marketing media
• Experience managing marketing agencies and vendors effectively
• Data-driven, with strong analytical skills, able to provide complex data analysis and draw conclusions based on the analysis which inform marketing strategy and tactics
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• 25% Travel
