Overview
The Director of Digital and Social Media is primarily responsible for creation, strategy, and implementation of WGN America’s Consumer Marketing digital and social campaigns
Responsibilities
• Working closely with the EVP, Marketing & Promotions on Consumer Marketing strategies for the network, original programming & acquisitions.
• Ownership of network’s social media strategy, agency relationships, studio relationships, and relationships across all Social Platforms (Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr/Instagram/Snapchat)
• Provide day-to day supervision and execution of social campaigns including (and not limited to) content creation, social promotions, partnerships, influencer outreach initiatives, online events, and live tweeting.
• Create Social content strategy calendar plans and communicate plans with internal and external teams.
• Primary contact for talent including messaging, delivering assets, distributing technology, and coordinating schedules for Social activations.
• Provide social media training and best practices for talent and producers.
• Develop relationships with talent and producers while on set, press tours, and junkets.
• On set content creation and asset gathering
• Provide strategy and coverage at all show events
• Coordinate social media ad-supported posts between agencies
• Responsible for community management across all social channels
• Ensure consistency of messages across multiple channels while tailoring each piece of content for that particular platform
• Work with Research in analyzing various social media listening tools and draw actionable insights across all campaigns
• Keep abreast of opportunities across pop culture and news events
• Primary project manager for wgnamerica.com. Includes coordination of internal team, show production and digital content/media agencies.
• Create graphics for WGN America website
• Ensure content is accurate on web site on a daily basis
• Upload trailers, photos, key art and clips to website and YouTube platforms
• Coordinate with digital agency any new features and/or updates for website
• Upload original series and closed captioning files to the website
• Maintain schedule of when episodes go up or down on the website
• Troubleshoot technical issues with digital tech team and agency
• Position requires firm grasp of the digital & social marketing landscape and latest innovations in the space
• Liaison with Affiliate Sales & Marketing team. Manage affiliate marketing strategies, announcements and disputes. Assist on creative presentation preparation
• Onboard cable providers to the authenticated full episode player
• Collaborate with VP, Ad Sales Marketing to ensure brand connectivity and consistencies on all ad sales driven marketing initiatives
• Manage a small team working within a fast-paced results oriented environment
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with related course wor
• 6-8 years working in social media with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong working relationships with creative agencies, and well-rounded integrated marketing experience developing campaigns
• Strong technical background and proficient in Photoshop
• Must have strong organizational and collaboration skills
• Must be willing to travel frequently for an extended period of time.
• An energetic team player with the ability to be flexible and “wear many hats” a must
