Praz-Delavallade is seeking a highly motivated, organized and team-oriented person who wants to be part of a growing international gallery in Los Angeles. The Associate role is a full-time position, 5 days per week, and requires flexibility for additional hours based on the needs of the gallery. The candidate will report directly to the Director.
Responsibilities
• Assist Director with sending out and monitoring offers, prepare and follow up on invoices and insurance appraisals.
• Create and manage guest lists for exhibitions/dinners, support Director during openings.
• Assist with preparation of materials and documents for offers, checklists, viewings, exhibitions and art fairs.
• Liaise with artists to keep CVs and exhibition material up to date.
• Work closely with international gallery staff and artists regarding all aspects of inventory & exhibition management: production, shipping, framing, photography, research, etc.
• Proactively manage gallery calendar, keep track of meetings, resolve schedule conflicts, and confirm arrangements.
• Update filmmaker database with artwork information, status and locations.
• Receive, send and distribute all mail and packages.
• Update contact database and mailing list.
• Compile all expense related receipts and manage QuickBooks data entry.
• Answer phones and field inquiries from the public.
Requirements:
• BA in Art History and/or a minimum of 2 years experience in an art world setting.
• A passion for modern and contemporary art; interest in the market is a must.
• Excellent writing, editing and research skills
• Professional and discreet manner
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Understanding of QuickBooks a major plus.
• Light art handling experience is beneficial and must be able to lift and move heavy objects around when needed.
• Knowledge of French a plus but not required.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
