Description
New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF) is seeking a Development Manager to lead the fundraising efforts for its annual city-wide event and year-round activities. This is a full time position reporting directly to the Executive Director to lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of government, foundation, corporate, and individual donors. The Manager will also oversee the planning and execution of NYICFF’s annual benefit event working closely with a board-led Benefit Committee. As part of a large-scale events-based organization, this role offers the opportunity to build and shape programs that create substantial impact for NYC families, students, and educators.
About NYICFF:
NYICFF is the largest festival of film for children and teens in North America, with an annual attendance of over 30,000. NYICFF takes place over four weeks in February/March at locations around New York City in addition to running year-round programming that includes a nationwide touring program, educational field trips, and special events.
Key Responsibilities:
NYICFF programs rely on collaboration and all staff are expected to work as part of a dynamic and efficient team. The Development Manager will be in charge of the responsibilities listed below in order to successfully support fundraising efforts for a small/medium scale non-profit with a robust lineup of year-round activities and growth initiatives.
Institutional Giving
- Develop and write LOIs and proposals designed to secure funding from public institutions, private foundations and corporations, and other grant-making entities to support and implement all aspects of NYICFF’s programs
- Track all grant submissions and awards; complying with grant reporting requirements
- Cultivating and managing funder relationships to include annual meetings, prospecting meetings, and site visits at NYICFF events
- Build and manage project budgets and be accountable for regular financial reporting
Individual Giving
Develop and implement annual membership campaign:
- Lead communications strategy including printed brochure and email blasts
- Secure membership renewals and identify new donors and opportunities for upgrades
- Coordinate all membership benefits, including concierge for All Access Passholders at the annual Festival
Execute two annual giving campaigns (end of year and spring appeal):
- Lead communications strategy including email blasts and development of any printed materials
- Increase awareness and visibility for these campaigns to encourage donations from NYICFF attendees
Assist Executive Director and Board of Directors in cultivation and solicitation of support from major donors
Create donor pipeline to identify, cultivate, and steward support through membership, giving campaigns, and major gifts
Special Events
Manage the production and execution of NYICFF’s annual benefit, including:
- Coordination of sponsorship and auction donation solicitations
- List management for the Save the Date and invitation mailing and response tracking
- Providing updated agenda and progress reports for meetings with the Benefit Executive Committee
- Gift and acknowledgement processing
- Conceive and manage members-only events during the Festival and off-season
- Finding opportunities to integrate development goals into all NYICFF events
Qualifications:
- 2 years of administrative experience, minimum of 1 year fundraising experience with demonstrated experience in grant writing preferred.
- Highly organized, motivated, accurate, and goal-oriented, with ability to think creatively, problem-solve, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A drive for excellence, as demonstrated in previous experience.
- Superb written, oral and electronic communication skills, including the ability to write persuasive, business-professional emails and communicate confidently and effectively by phone.
- Must be able to work independently and manage the work of others, as well as collaborate as part of a tight-knit team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and familiarity with fundraising databases such as Salesforce
- Bachelor’s degree required
