Job Summary
The CenturyLink Cloud Architect is responsible for design and consultation on customer environments. The Cloud Architect is responsible for helping a customer successfully migrate to the cloud platform of their choice. Cloud Architects are customer facing and must have the ability to extract requirements and provide new solutions for our customers on various cloud vendor platforms including AWS, Azure, VMware, Google and CenturyLink Cloud.
Job Description
Essential Duties
• Conduct discovery and assessment workshops to help define customer business needs and requirements for migrating to public and private cloud offerings.
• Be comfortable talking with upper management as well as customer technical resources and dynamically adjusting your message to the targeted audience.
• Working in a cross functional team that can consist of Sales Engineers, Project Managers, Network and Security engineers to define a solution that meets a customer’s business requirements.
• Provide detailed technical design for target state infrastructure
• Perform technical presentations during pre-sale, client engagement, and migration engagements
• Passion for cloud technologies and platforms. You must be able to showcase and talk to the advantages of cloud platforms for an organization.
• Lead a technology stack on the team and be the Subject Matter Expert for it
• Application knowledge of standard web platforms, and development lifecycles
• Continued learning of cloud platforms internally and externally as the competitive landscape grows and changes
• Perform as lead design and technical resource for a customer's cloud engagement
Qualifications
Required Skills
• Comprehensive and working knowledge of Network and Hosting data center architecture (WAN Technologies, Hosted Area Network Technologies, Load Balancing Technologies, Security Technologies, Compute and OS architectures, J2EE Web Application Technologies, and Database (MS SQL, MYSQL, Oracle).
• Strong skills in cloud computing architecture and design
• Experience with AWS, Azure or Google cloud service offerings
• Ability to present and engage with customers to explain technical details to a technical and non-technical audience.
• Experience with configuration management systems or software lifecycle tools.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes
• Scripting experience a must.
• Strong communication skills
• Strong customer focus, sense of accountability, ownership, and drive
• Understanding of development lifecycle and deployment tools
• Must hold certifications on AWS (associate level required, Professional Level preferred) or Azure (MCSA Cloud Platform required, MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure preferred)
• Travel to customer locations could account for 25-50% of time during customer engagements.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Information Technology and Services.
• Minimum of 5 years of solution design experience or consulting experience
