This individual must possess a positive, strong work ethic, be a team player, able to work within format parameters to maximize ratings & revenue success while relating to the lifestyle of our target listener.

Assist with managing and scheduling station programming. Ensure that the station always sounds its best and suits the needs of listeners.
Key activities
• Oversee day-to-day programming and assist with daily broadcast operations
• Manage sports department operations and related digital entities such as the station's websites
• Guide journalistic approach and presentation for sports department
• Interview, select, hire (with manager approval), and train part-time air talent, freelance hosts, sports reporters/anchors, and producers.
• Budget and set pay for PT air talent, freelance hosts, sports reporters/anchors, and producers.
• Maintain records on staff performance, directives, and memorandums
• Coordinate ASCAP, and BMI logging
• Work with sales department to apply contractual obligations in programming and digital initiatives
• Ensure station is complying with FCC regulations and company policy
• Set weekly program schedule, remotes, special broadcasts, staff fill-in duty for vacations, and sick days
• Assign policies and standards for air talent and producers
• Monitor and evaluate performance for air talent and producers
• Participate in daily show meetings with leadership on topic selection, guests
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media or another related field.
Experience/Certifications
• Minimum 2 years in radio broadcasting as a program director, assistant program director, or executive producer at a news or news/talk show station
Skills & Abilities
• Ability to work and make vital decisions under pressure
• Knowledge of broadcast operations, journalistic standards, and libel laws
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Critical listening skills required.
• Ability to evaluate and improve programming.
• Must have extensive knowledge of radio programming.
• Thorough understanding of marketing and brand management as it applies to radio programming.
• Proficient in use of high impact production elements.
• Strong problem solving abilities.
• Able to maintain highest creative and ethical standards in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and strong detail orientation.
• Computer proficiency.
