Requirements
Macmillan Learning is currently offering a paid internship opportunity for summer 2018. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in work related assignments, gain practical work experience, and network with employees from various departments. Overall, the intern will become familiar with the basic structure of a publishing house and the role of each department within. The Macmillan Learning Internship Program is available for students currently enrolled in a college or university or recent 2018 graduates.
Purpose of the Role:
The Media Production intern will work on Mathematics/Statistics media projects for the Content Management department. The intern’s focus will be learning key project management strategies and skills in order to contribute to the development of varied media products for higher education learning management systems. These media products may include ebooks, learning tools, videos, databases, content management systems, and assessment.
Responsibilities:
Intern will learn how to build an ebook. Their responsibilities may include organizing, tracking, and uploading resources; creating and adding URLs for interactivity, and ensuring accuracy to specifications, resource links, and layout. Intern will learn how to build a learning management system and its components. These responsibilities may include creating HTML resource pages; organizing, tracking, and uploading resources; creating URLs, assisting with platform processes, assuring quality and making corrections; coding links for resources on various platforms. Intern may verify solutions are complete, correct, and follow the specifications of online instructor solutions manuals. Intern will manage databases by organizing media resources into chapters and types, ensuring resources match their URLs, and are viable. Intern may code to add accompanying alternative text for assessment images.
Skills/Experience Required:
Candidate must be interested in media development and have excellent organizational skills. Candidate should be a detailed note-taker, good communicator, time manager, and proficient in Google applications. Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: high school/higher education learning management systems, video editing, HTML/XML coding, understanding and writing technical communications, scripting, and concatenation. Math/Statistics subject matter knowledge is not required.
