Executive Director, Talent Management
Position & Candidate Summary
Reporting to the VP of Talent, the Executive Director of Talent Management will focus on establishing and subsequently leading the implementation and execution of Talent Review Process and adjacent initiatives across TPX. The Executive Director is the process owner for the Talent Review Process and maintains and fosters a high level of confidentiality. The position requires a high level of collaboration with the business, HR Business Partners and Centers of Excellence (COEs). An ideal candidate will have a broad and complete understanding of Talent Management functions, including the tools and processes associated with leadership development, succession planning, career pathing, and extensive experience in Executive & Leadership Coaching. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a proven consultative approach, program management experience, organization skills, and business and data analytic acumen.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Consulting & Business/HR Partnership
Supports business strategy and objectives, improves employee and business performance, and enables a talent return on investment through consultation with HR and Business leaders to understand talent management needs, develop plans/processes to resolve business and/or organizational solutions, and to construct talent solutions aligned to strategy.
• Partner with members of the executive team and/or HR/COEs to establish strategic and operational goals, with a focus on how the company’s talent can help to achieve them. Lead the executives through a process to assess the ability of business unit’s talent to carry out the strategy, identifying gaps and opportunities to address them through talent acquisition, development, and other means.
• Provides Change Management consultation for all Talent Management initiatives
Talent Management & Organizational Development
Brings creativity and new ideas to the design and development of new programs and initiatives as well as continuously seeking improvement of existing programs, processes and services. Design, develop and launch new talent management initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders to enable the accomplishment of business objectives; provide oversight of programs post-launch and recommends termination of programs, where appropriate.
• Develops a framework and accompanying processes that enables the business to leverage credible programs (i.e. Succession Planning and Executive development) to build a viable pipeline of talent to support business growth and productivity
• Manage the bi-annual administrative and technical support for the Executive TMP process. Participate in TMP planning sessions, periodically attend facilitated executive sessions, consolidate and analyze all data and convert into actionable follow-up for each senior executive leader.
• Provide support and assists with the facilitation of Talent Review sessions. Consolidate and analyze all data and convert into actionable follow-up for each executive leader.
• In partnership with CU, develop or initiate curriculum designed to support the strategic skill development aligned to meet the needs of the Technology Roadmap.
• Partner with CU and HQ TM in the identification of nominees for internal and external leadership development programs. Provide consultation on program design and launch as needed.
• Day to day management, tracking, and maintenance of Executive development; coaching, participation and other activities associated with TMP follow-ups.
Data, Systems & Analytics
• Monitors staffing levels and implements strategies and procedures to assure consistent achievement of succession plans across business
• Develops talent management & succession planning metrics with the management team that drive optimal talent pipeline performance
Success criteria:
• Increased talent movement across technology organizations – including laterals and promotions.
• Advance the % rate of internal promotions for Manager and above placements.
• Simplification and automation of TMP tools that support talent movement to increase the effectiveness and efficiency.
• Advance the % rate of talent profiles and individual development plans in place to drive employee engagement through talent development opportunities. Achieve this goal by creating awareness for, and fostering opportunities to develop talent cross functionally, laterally, and cross regionally.
• Enhance the Diversity mix for Manager and above. Specifically increase our percentage of females and people of color (under-represented) into Director and above level roles.
• Increased quality and number of individual development plans
Demonstrated skills include:
• Proven ability to consult with HR stakeholders, of all levels, and develop and execute solutions accordingly.
• Must possess extensive research and analytical skills, with deep Talent Management & Leadership Development subject matter knowledge.
• Must possess project management skills in order to work and lead several projects at the same time.
• Must have a desire to enhance the strength of data by uncovering the underlying story and identifying parallels with external research and trends.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, most importantly the ability to deliver concise and precise messages to top management to assist in decision making.
• Attention to detail, while able to keep the big picture in mind, and a strong sense of logic.
Experience Required:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in HR, Communications, Business, IT or Engineering. MBA or other post-graduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related fields a plus
• Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated Human resources, talent management, leadership/staff development or organizational consulting experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of executive and leadership coaching experience
• Project management and organization skills to handle multiple projects (small and large) with conflicting priorities and deliver projects on time with excellence
• Demonstrated data analytics capabilities with the ability to identify insights, alternative solutions and recommendations
• Experience in change management of new programs and initiatives
• Demonstrated technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SAP, or other HRIS systems.
• Strong PC, Word, Excel, and Power Point skills as well as a basic understanding of Access
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
