The Orchard is looking for a Director, Artist Distribution to join our dynamic NYC (East Village) office.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP, Label Management, The Orchard has an immediate opening for a Director, Artist Distribution. The position will act as the distribution lead for key artist signings in North America, working closely with our Artist Services division. The candidate will focus on frontline, artist driven repertoire, leading on distribution strategy and campaign management across The Orchard’s cross functional label and artist service teams. This person should have strong passion, knowledge, and excitement for independent music and artist development, an understanding of digital retail requirements and opportunities, experience with metadata best practices, a creative spirit, solid technical capabilities, and strong communication skills.
• Work alongside our Artist Services team to manage high profile frontline, artist driven release campaigns.
• Ensure the global sales and marketing organization has all assets to properly solicit and market artists’ distributed releases including regular comprehensive campaign updates.
• Handle assigned artists’ digital and physical product logistics and operations, ensuring digital content is delivered in a timely manner and to required specifications using Orchard technology systems, and physical releases make their way to market by way of coordinating with sales, manufacturing, and inventory management.
• Manage artists’ priority release campaign logistics from inception through to analysis, working with other internal departments such as sales, marketing, operations, and data analytics as necessary.
• Liaise with all internal departments (from finance and marketing to legal and management) to ensure artist business needs are met, as the primary distribution contact to the artist and artist services team and internally representing your artists’ interests.
• Work across The Orchard’s proprietary toolset and business intelligence tools to provide data guided insights into campaign planning best practices.
• Provide comprehensive campaign wrap ups for artists and management.
Qualifications
• Experience within a label or distribution system managing frontline release campaigns, the ideal candidate has experience working with urban genre campaigns.
• Experience & knowledge of using content management systems and digital metadata across a variety of genres & store formats.
• Deep knowledge and experience of artist and label services including physical distribution, campaign management, budget management etc.
• Excellent knowledge of the digital space, including music retail, analytics and social media, with an ability to adapt to a constantly changing landscape.
• Highly advanced organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize to tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak effectively across all levels of business, both internally and externally.
