Human Resource Generalist

Job Summary:
The person in this position performs operations duties including support of general human resource support including coordinating employment activities, employee relations, coaching and disciplinary actions. Strong focus on learning & development and working closely with all levels of management to determine appropriate strategies to ensure adherence to expected job duties and training of supervisory expectations. The person in this position also assists in the development and administration of employee relations programs to enhance morale. From an operations side this role will provide on-site support as needed with project timelines and project coordination as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Personnel Management and Leadership
1. Lead all personnel at Resort World NY, Yonkers, NY and Monticello, NY (“NYC Facilities”)
2. Assist on-site management and supervisors with employee policy adherence and performance standards
• Includes:
◦ Leading investigation into lack of policy compliance
◦ Draft and Issuance of disciplines
3. Ensure employee visibility on training and programs including Career Advancement initiatives Responsible for employee programs, administrative functions
• Drafting and distribution of communication pieces
4. Visit, review and communicate with staff– regularly
• Prepare and co-host Bi- Weekly Staff meetings
B. Avoidance and Mitigation of Liquidated Damages
1. Work with on-site management to ensure necessary operations and precautions are in place to avoid or mitigate Liquidated Damages due to machine operational requirements, including adequate part support and delivery and install commitments
• By ensuring support staff is properly trained
• Any performance short falls are promptly dealt with and action plans are documented and executed.
• Measure pros and cons of utilizing outside services
◦ Weigh risk factors with services rendered
C. Lead various administrative functions at all NYC Facilities
1. Daily time and attendance review
• Tracking and record keeping
◦ PTO, Advanced PTO, Tardies, Absences, ESTA and overtime
2. Employee communication emails on attendance record
3. New employees
• Complete TRF process and tracking
• Interviewing of candidates
• Tracking of probation period and extensions
• Ensure uniform orders are complete
• Execute 1st day paperwork
• Administer training
◦ CBA training
◦ Entry level training packet
4. Deliver and communicate all SG policies Administrative tasks surrounding employee grievances
• Schedule meetings
• Conduct investigations including employee interviews
• Record Keeping
• Surveillance reviews and requests
• Sit grievances
5. Serve as liaison for questions surrounding employee programs, CBA, SG policies, state and federal laws,
Qualifications:
Training and/or Experience:
• Five to ten years’ experience as an HR Generalist, with a preferred emphasis on staffing and employee relations and learning & development
• Minimum of 2 years union environment experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to coach, train, facilitate, supervise, and lead teams effectively
• Knowledge of external factors influencing operational performance
• Strong project management and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse work group
• Superior written, verbal, and alternative communication skills
• Ability to multi-task is required
• Ability to host and lead meetings
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment practices
• Ability to balance multiple priorities, work under pressure within established time constraints, meet deadlines and objectives, and proactively take a customer service approach to activities
• Working knowledge of union environments
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Human Resources Certification preferred
Working Conditions:
Union casino environment with multiple shifts to cover. The person accepting of this position should excel in scheduling their time appropriately to ensure they can complete tasks across multiple shifts.
