Penguin Random House is seeking a Managing Editorial Assistant to join their team! The Assistant will directly support the Executive Managing Editor and the entire Managing Editorial department with coordinating and monitoring the production process of new titles, from edited manuscript to finished book. Working across five Penguin Publishing Group imprints, this position is an exciting opportunity to get an overview of the entire publishing process, and to work with various departments in a fast-paced publishing house.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Preparing manuscripts for the production process by routing materials between the Editorial departments and reviewing forms before submission to the Production department.
2. Disseminating up-to-date information regarding the production schedules, on-sale dates, and prices for frontlist titles.
3. Acting as a point person for departments, including Editorial, Copyediting, Design, Art, and Production.
4. Negotiating, tracking, and reporting production schedules for books.
5. Setting up and maintaining title metadata in SAP.
6. Coordinating the schedules for book jackets and jacket copy, and routing these materials to other departments for approval.
7. Coordinating reprint corrections for backlist and frontlist titles.
8. Providing general administrative support to the Managing Editorial department, including routing incoming and outgoing materials, answering phones, taking messages, scheduling, calendar maintenance, etc.

• Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style
• Knowledge of SAP a plus
