Description
The Brooklyn Rail, a 501(c)3 non-profit monthly print journal of art, culture, and politics, is seeking rigorous, exceptionally motivated production assistants. Production assistants will be trained in all aspects of our publication, both in printed form and website edition: from copyediting, fact-checking, and transcribing interviews, researching, compiling dossiers to working with general office administrative requirements such as html and Photoshop, responding to emails, preparing mailings, answering telephone calls.
A commitment of two or three full-days per week with an additional shift each month while we are closing the issue is required and we ask for a minimum commitment of six months.
This is an opportunity to work in an active and stimulating environment with artists, writers, curators, and scholars. In return we provide a stipend, a press pass that offers free entrance to all museums in the U.S. and abroad, and a weekly lunch with distinguished guests at the Rail HQ. Equally important, for those who are aspiring writers, there will be the eventual opportunity to have your work published in the Rail. And for those who are artists, there will be opportunity to show their works to our writers, critics, and curators, among other staff and colleagues.
