Description
About ArtBinder:
ArtBinder is an art technology company providing innovative and elegant solutions for the art world. Founded in 2010, ArtBinder was created to address widespread inefficiencies in the art business. Our sophisticated, integrated suite of products is the technological backbone of the art ecosystem, powering everything from art management to presentation, online showcasing, and point of sale. ArtBinder is the best way to organize, present, and share your artworks from any device. We modernize and consolidate existing ad hoc systems that depend on outdated spreadsheets, clunky software, and physical files.
We are currently looking for a thoughtful, collaborative, empathetic self-starter for our UX Designer role. You’ll support every part of the product, working with both product leads and the CEO directly to design, develop, and fine-tune the UIs and flows for a range of features.
About You:
- You will sweat the details of interface design, flow, consistency, and iterative improvement over the long term.
- You are a designer who takes the time to understand our users, their needs, and their abilities.
- You can take complex ideas and be able to translate them into intuitive solutions.
- You’re the person who asks “Why?” before you enact a design to be sure it suits the needs of the end user.
- You love staying on top of the latest design patterns. You would rather remove an element from a page than clutter the screen. You are a great team player, self-motivated, and experienced in working with agile teams in a startup environment, including some remote team members.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product management and our engineering team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, and help visualize ideas and features
- Determine architecture of our apps with introduction of new features, as well as newly released components of existing features
- Enhance the design of the interfaces and interactions in a cohesive manner
- Create wireframes, interaction models, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience
- Establish and improve design patterns to create a friendly and approachable user experience
- Work with developers to ensure that concepts are executed properly
- Collaborate closely with the broader team, both in our NYC office and abroad. You will collaborate extensively with our CEO, Director of Product, Product Manager, and Technical Success Manager, as well as direct communication with developers.
- Self-starter and self-management attitude is desired; our team is small but nimble and we expect each member to be accountable to get the needed work done on time without major oversight.
- Potentially onboard UX/UI interns and provide guidance, mentorship and proper management for them to grow while contributing to the product over the course of their internship
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience solving complex design problems for web interactions or software solutions required
- Strong experience designing across multiple device types and contexts (desktop, mobile, large-screen tablets)
- Excellent at storyboarding, wireframing, visual and interactive design
- Proficiency with Sketch, Adobe CS, Invision
- Outstanding communication skills
- Strong visual / UI design skills a huge plus
- Working knowledge of coding for prototyping purposes (HTML, CSS)
- Comfort in having technical conversations with managers and developers directly
- Bonus if you have Jira and Confluence exposure, and Acceptance Criteria writing experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required; concentration in User Experience Design, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science or related discipline preferred
