Thrillist means fun. We're eaters, drinkers, travelers, and doers. We serve the curious and believe that new experiences are what drive the richest lives. We bring our passion, expertise, and taste to bear on the things that are truly worth your time and money. Life is for living, and that’s why we’re here. Today will be great.
Thrillist is seeking an organized, ambitious, and experienced Post Production Supervisor to work directly for the Head of Video. You’ll be charged with leading our post production department: a team of more than 10 shooters & editors. You’ll be responsible for managing not only their schedules but the post production timelines for all of our franchises. You’ll work closely with our Supervising & Senior Producers on time management and be sure all processes are established and executed smoothly. You’ll ultimately be responsible for QC, circulating edits, being sure notes are implemented, and giving notes of your own to create content that moves our audience of eaters, drinkers, viewers, travelers and doers. If you can contribute to what our people care about and how they live, and do that through videos cutting to the bone of what people really love, knowing it may get messy ... well, this could be the place for you. That’s our ideal candidate.
Responsibilities:
• Scheduling the entire post production department: staff, projects, and freelancers. Working with our management staff to schedule, adjust, reschedule, prioritize, budget, and execute on our ambitious programming calendar and needs on time.
• Staying on top of the condition of our internal hardware, servers, etc. Experience with camera & audio equipment is a valued add. You’ll establish and maintain the skeleton path system within which all of our projects are organized and archived.
• Ultimate Quality Control & Assurance: once a video is approved, the Post Production Supervisor is the last set of eyes on it before it is shipped to distribution. Your staff is at your disposal to delegate as necessary but the responsibility is yours.
• Working directly with the HOV on all staffing needs: evaluations (achievement, shortcomings), how to adjust personnel year over year, raises, promotions, interviewing candidates, and terminations.
• Liaising directly with all the departments that video interfaces with: including but limited to Audience Development for distribution needs, assets and timelines, Text editorial for SRT adjustments, titling etc, IT for upgrades, tech needs, site visits, consultations and recommendations, Product for select editorial initiatives
• Managing all media assets for all Thrillist video on all platforms. As digital grows, doubtless we’ll be on additional platforms than we’re on now - known right now or not. You’ll need to master the specs for deliverables for all of them as they arise and create efficiencies for expediting all processes.
• As our content-out deals increase in number, you’ll be responsible for locating the assets and shipping them as needed and necessary.
• Simply: you can only positively impact the department by being in the office, present, and leading your team by that example.
Qualifications:
• Know the Thrillist brand - have your own favorite Thrillist content, be passionate about our culture.
• 5+ years at a media company / digital publisher like ours - this is a new time in content and all outlets are not created equal. It’s imperative you know ours innately.
• You need to embrace deadlines, budgets, management, and all other left-brained parts of this job.
• You need to know how to work with and motivate your team to be successful
• Bring a rolodex of freelancers to the company who you can call for short term jobs, longer term projects, or as candidates for potential openings.
