Description
The House Manager is in charge of audience management for all National Sawdust events. He/She hires and supervises a staff of ushers, part-time house managers, outside security and serves as on-site manager for the majority of events at the venue. The House Manager is responsible for setting all audience configurations for each event (seated or standing) and insuring that all proper egresses are maintained through the event.
The candidate must be able to work in a flexible and fast moving environment, and show the capacity to work on several projects simultaneously. He/She must be able to interact with audience members in a friendly, professional manner and effectively lead a small team of front-of-house personnel.
For events, the House Manager is expected to be on site at least three hours before start time and is usually the last person to leave the venue at the end of the night. In addition to working events, the House Manager attends weekly production meetings and also works in venue during normal office hours as required. Advance work with NS programmed events and private rentals is also expected. Late nights are frequent, however all best efforts are made to keep to a 40-hour/week schedule.
This House Manager reports to the General Manager and is a salaried position. A background in customer service in the performing arts is required.
