Description
David LaChapelle Studio New York is the world renowned photographer’s archive and post production studio.
To work well in David LaChapelle’s New York office space, a candidate must be organized, creative, enthusiastic, efficient, and must thrive under pressure. Intern will gain hands-on experience with professionals in the field.
Candidates interested in post-production must be proficient in Photoshop, digital printing, CS scanning, Web HTML and Quicktime. Though it would be great for you to have a background in Photography, Graphic design, Multimedia, Arts Administration or Art History, it is not required.
Duties include but are not limited to, scanning, updating websites, resizing images, archiving, and basic office administration as well as hands-on work with art in our warehouse. Must be comfortable running errands and helping with various office tasks.
We also have interest candidates who are skilled or interested in art inventory, shipping, and handling work. Art handling interns will be working to complete inspection and an inventory of photographs, including condition reporting, photography and updating database. Other tasks include: properly wrapping, identifying and handling artwork. uploading photos into the database, naming files, involvement in the destruction process.
Must be able to communicate effectively, work with hands, take instruction, give feedback and lift 50 pounds.
The internship is unpaid with lunch stipend and school credit is offered for students.
Applicants must be able to work 10am to 6pm, 2 to 3 days a week for at least 3- 6 months.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get hands-on experience in the areas of artist representation, gallery management, art fabrication and handling, artist studio and archiving.
