Job Summary
The Director of Sales Engineering will be responsible for directing the Sales Engineering and activities for the West region with accountability for company-wide strategies and results. They will interface with all levels within the company, especially the leadership team. This person serves as a trusted advisor to the VP of the West Region and champions their vision internally and externally.
Job Description
• Achieves results through subordinate managers responsible for successful operations of their assigned branches.
• May supervise high level individual contributors and managers focused on mission critical customer engineering projects.
• Directs a team of Sales Engineering in the successful implementation, planning, solution preparation, and measurement of initiatives that are highly complex and strategic in nature.
• Responsible for size, scope, impacts, risk, budget, and strategy for initiatives that have corporate-wide and substantial bottom line impact.
• Manage all aspects of the budget and forecast for the Sales Engineering team.
• Direct overall Sales Engineering modeling for large/strategic sales opportunities.
• Management of internal compensation for all Sales Engineering in the business unit, including metrics establishment for Managers and individual contributors.
• Oversee sales bookings for the business unit.
• Relationship building with key internal business partners at the branch level (Sales Directors, Managers, Overlay teams (IE IQ-WAN, Hosting, etc).
• Develop processes and rules of engagement between the business unit and others business units in the Business Solutions organization.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience. Typically, with 8-10 years related experience and 3+ years at Manager level.
• Strong team building skills, strong financial and analytical background, outstanding network inside and outside.
• Experience in managing commissioned sales employees.
• Capable of creative, independent thinking; will go beyond the obvious to find solutions.
• Demonstrates optimism and agility in adjusting to new and emerging opportunities and challenges.
• Able to build strong relationships with internal and external partners; can create strong buy-in and commitment for the best ideas and solutions.
• Possesses excellent communication skills, and the ability to distill data into concise points.
• Can handle multiple demands and work under pressure.
• Proven ability to help drive implementation of highly critical strategic initiatives that require deep partnerships with functional and business unit leadership.
