Job Description:
Test Lead – Workday Payroll
How you’ll spend your days…
This is a critical role to manage and implement a test strategy to ensure the successful deployment of Workday Payroll at WMG by January 2019. Working in partnership with our implementation partner (Appirio), the Test Lead will:
• Take ownership of the payroll testing workstream and its deliverables
• Work with the implementation partner’s QA/Testing Lead to develop and implement a fit-for-purpose WMG testing strategy, plan and rollout approach, revising this as new requirements emerge and feedback is received
• Ensure programme deliverables are met and testing activities are followed through in accordance with the project plan
• Maintains standards for testing and provides frameworks that align with partner / system methodology.
• Support building and facilitate execution of testing scenarios / test cases across different technical and functional areas of HR, partnering with functional and technical teams to populate templates
• Gains agreement from internal System Owners on test environments, test data and test scenarios
• Co-ordinate testing of Workday payroll with technical, payroll, HRIS and wider HR testers through various prototype (unit testing, smoke testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing etc) stages of system deployment and go-live
• Co-ordinate test process and feedback, ensuring appropriate follow up and quality assurance and reporting back to stakeholders, including daily triage of testing logs during test cycles
• Implement tracking mechanisms, ensuring issues / bugs / process refinements / data concerns are logged, followed up on and responded to in a timely manner
• Facilitates testing execution and develops test evidence
• Provide input into process design and data quality based on test results, ensuring a repeatable process is followed up on and requirements are captured in next iteration
• Work with the change management lead to ensure that testing strategy and approach builds engagement and ownership within testing community, supporting system adoption and embedding knowledge of Workday
• Develop communication materials and engagement approaches to support test strategy, in conjunction with the change lead, and deliver presentations to test groups to ensure they are appropriately briefed on the process
• Analyses and communicates testing progress to stakeholders (including WMG programme leads and implementation partner), developing presentations and providing output updates where necessary
• Produces metrics and reports on test outcomes
• Provides governance on Quality Assurance by developing metrics for Right the First time , defect density and Defect removal efficiency
• Manages test exit/entry criteria, Happy path and alternative approaches of test reporting and testing sign offs for testing cycles (Unit Testing, Regression testing, integration testing, UAT and payroll parallel testing).
• Fulfils SOX Audit requirements for testing, and produces regression packs for future releases of Workday Payroll releases.
What we are looking for…
• Professional qualification / education in HR / Computer Science / related technologies (or equivalent experience)
• Testing experience (including integrations) in agile environments and using cloud / SaaS technologies (ideally Workday; specifically Workday Payroll) is critical
• Project management / co-ordination experience (ideally with qualification(s))
• Strong experience of developing and co-ordinating a QA/testing process for custom software solutions
• Sound experience of large-scale projects and co-ordination of tasks across multiple territories
• Excellent reporting and analytical capabilities to track and respond to testing
• Ability to exercise absolute discretion with highly sensitive data
• Strong presentation and communication skills are required
• Enthusiastic, professional, and confident personality, with a focus on project success
• Excellent listening skills to fully understand testing feedback and revise approaches
• Ability to translate business requirements and needs into test cases and partner with functional owners on their demands
• Takes ownership and accountability of deliverables – self-starter and dependable: starting, controlling and concluding job tasks and assignments
