The objective of the HMH Sales Operations Business Intelligence (BI) Data Analyst is to help the sales team uncover opportunities through the processing and presentation of various data in an easily consumable manner. The analyst will work with various sales operations team members to understand their needs and specific customer issues to develop the appropriate dashboards and analysis with our BI toolkit (e.g. Salesforce.com Analytics, Qlik, MicroStrategy, etc). The analyst will work with his/her peers and managers to process, manipulate large amounts of data, and recommend efficiencies in our processes where necessary. The senior analyst will be responsible for supporting a sales operations team that works on producing customer facing analytical reports.
This function requires a highly organized, self-motivated, willing-to-learn, resourceful, and solutions-oriented individual who is able to execute well in a fast paced environment while working on multiple, concurrent projects. The ideal candidate should have the unique combination of strong quantitative analysis skills, some experience with business intelligence tools, experience with ETL and ETL tools, while also being a strong communicator. The position reports to the Sales Operations BI Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with the sales, sales operations team to understand their needs and work with them to provide reporting efficiencies and analyses to achieve account and sales goals.
• Be able to use (or learn to use) business intelligence (BI)/analytics tools and internal CRM tools (SalesForce.com, etc)
• Ability to source data from disparate systems and link/match information accordingly
• Use BI tools to manipulate and summarize data and design dashboards to present information in a visually compelling way
• Coordinate with other Sales Operations team members on data collection, analyses, and synthesis of both quantitative and qualitative information
• Be able to manage time, workload and responsibilities effectively
• Coordinate with team members and manager on workload to ensure that the needs of the customer are appropriately met
• Contribute innovative ideas on better ways to access, aggregate data/ information, and producing dashboards/reports
• Participate and lead knowledge sharing sessions with the Sales Operations team and with the Sales team as needed regarding analyses•
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred: 3+ years working experience in data centric role
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Required: Comfortable and enjoy working with data
• Knowledge & expertise in analytics and/or database tools (e.g. Salesforce.com Analytics, Microstrategy, Qlik, Domo, Tableau etc.)
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to organize complex information in a concise and user-friendly way
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Superior Excel skills
• Comfortable interfacing with people at all levels within the organization and in various locations
• Strong organization skills and detail oriented
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment is essential
• Aggressive self-starter, ability to work both independently and as a team member
• 3+ years working experience in a data centric role
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
